suicide abided by the constant medicate we
self-prescribe, deciding life ain't for the sober
mixing our getting by with our getting over
so, our excess abates as menial needs meds
uppers to lift lids, downers bring back the beds
and maintaining through the rest of day
mind numbed so feeling goes away
as feeling denies the lie that we're aiight
antiquate the ache, dilate pupils to the plight
and have every ailment that comes with life
need a prescription as life needed fixing
saved from experiencing existence
attempts to touch earth meeting resistance
as everything can kill you, but if it can fulfill you
ain't the risk worth it still duke?
stressed out, can't cope with the grinding day
while people live in wars a half world away
without post-traumatic stress pills
just pure resolve that fate's will
can't knock 'em back none, how it been done
since forever but today we invent the symptom
before the drug, and we just shrug
and deafen our senses from playpen to the pulled plug
