This is a serious question and is not a Jay-Z hate thread. I think he is top 10 all-time, so is obviously not wack. But he talks like it should be so obvious he is the GOAT and i feel that if he is, he should show us.

Only good moments on American Gangster are the productions. Jay-z is not really bringing anything new. Also, after a couple of ordinary metaphors or similies, he starts woooing like he has just said the most amazing sh!t you ever heard and I am scratching my head? Is he just so out of touch with what these young mc's like Cassidy, Joe Budden, Wayne, Joel Ortizz is releasing? These dudes is coming with sick metaphors, similes, flows all the time. Even his right hand man Beanie is hotter than Jay at this point.

Again, I don't want to hate on the dude, but it just seems to me how can he feel himself after some ordinary lyics and act like it is the hottest sh!t that has been said.

...I think the listening audience is "saturated" (I know I am)...it's like I've heard it all before and the rappers are not creative enough to come up with something new that might actually cause me to go ":ohmy::ohmy::ohmy:".

...I've almost stop paying attention even to artist I like (Budden, Crooked I) because it's like they have "maxed out"/ "reached their peak" and can't bring anything better (because it may not even be possible). At this point, all you really notice is when they aren't bringing their best (like it seems with Jay-Z).

Because it shows consistency. Along with other things...or else we'd have to add every phuckin rapper who ever had a hot streak to the debate. Those guys are miles away from Jay.

I love Nas, he's top 10, but he's too inconsistent. You stack up the hits of Nas and Jay-Z, and I'm talking radio, club, and the streets, Jays catalogue kills Nas. Nas holds the title of the best album between the two of them(Illmatic - maybe best all time) but Jay just got way more hits.

Pac - unfortunately died right when he was taking his music to another level. Again his catalogue can not measure up to Jay's when it comes to hits.

Pac's catalogue is right up there with Jay's. And, with all due respect, so is Nas'. I think it comes down to personal opinion/preference between the three. My list goes - in order - Pac, Jay, Nas. Really, very little separates the three. Except Pac's influence, body of work and impact is head and shoulders above the other two. I give Jay the edge over Nas because he has been a tad more consistent, even at his low points. Lest we forget, Nas suffered through quite a few missteps from IWW to Stillmatic. But Illmatic and IWW are bonafide classics and, since Nastradamus, he has rejuvenated himself.

You lost for this post, The Goat title isn't awarded based on hits that's silly. Nas's catalog sh*ts on Jay's who has maybe 1 classic while Nas has several, Nas is The Goat while Jay is top ten no more.
