i think sometimes this cat tries to hard to say sh1t, it comes out foolish sounding. either that, or he layed vocals before the beat was down, which is amateur sh1t, nas needs to step his game up a lil better sometimes.... im not sayin he lost, but his flow lost on that song. which made his content lack...he my 2nd favorite but the n1gga has no confidence in his swagger really:yes:

if you think Nas flowed better on that beat then Jigga i dont kno what planet you'z birthed on.
Nas couldnt follow the beat for sh1t....no stan, just give it another listen, everyone who i let hear it said the same.
even if you felt the beat was whack, Nas just rode it poorly.
i thought the beat was mediocre to good. better then most beats n1ggas throw on they albums.

Duke Right Nas Is My Favorite But Jay's Flow Was So Sick Nas Should Have Danced On The Track To
Instead He Just Spit
Thats Why Nas Will Never Be On Top
He Just Spits
He Does It Good
But.....
And That Beat Is Hard As Fvck

if its flow you wish for, listen to sweet. its one of the only tracks where jay really kills rides the beat like he used to.

look most of us cats in here grew up on nas and jay so naturally they gone be our 1-2.... i dont really fukz with rakim and all that ****, cause i wasnt carein bout rap then, (im 24) all i know is Nas had some good bars, but good bars dont matter if you cant ride the beat... your favorite backpack rapper has the same desease (not yours specifically but- most backpack dudes in general)

i dont know what you think flow is - but flow is how you carry your rhymes through the beat, everyone knows Jay is the champ at this so you even saying something like this lets me know your rap Ear is limited.
No insult but you need to listen better...if you can look forward to one think on a jay album its flow, even if he dont say sh1t in a song, trust... hes gonna ride the beat like a b1tch after poppin two E's

The joint is sick but, there always a lil' something missing when cats don't record in the studio together. You take a Jay and Biggie cut or G. Rap with Nas and you can just feel it.

one of jay's strong points is still his flow, but its below his standards lately and success is just another example. yall can lie to yourself if you like, but you know its true. wayne is where jay was around bp1 as far as flow. he shows flashes (aforementioned sweet), but there's just something missing.

dude.. they took the drumline out...and since the sample is not a 2 bar sample, it seems like nas is not staying on the beat.. but in reality the sample is what is going eveywhere, his flow stayed the same.

what the hell you people talking about?
first off, Nas flow is an off-beat flow that's on beat, he rides the beat later, like Snoop, but in a different way. Not in a bad way though. Kinda how John Bonham was an off-beat drummer.
Listen to the vocals on Success, Nas hits his snares perfectly.
u fools are nuts.
Nas killed that beat better than Jay
Jay was constructed his verse to pause every 4 bars in his lyrics while Nas verse was straight thru over the beat.
On a beat like that, that is way harder to do.
Nas killed that shhit

you the first n1gga to come in here with the stan bullsh1t... just because nas was off-beat, someone is a stan? naa blame Nas, he gotta come better on the beat.
and the person who said nas flow - is a off-beat/on (wtf? lol) beat flow needs to just give up life....this is Rap, you either rap with the beat, or its best to leave it alone. and the fact you made a comparision with snoops flow and nas flow alone is a Loss for you.
No - insults just real talk, nas flow was lacking, his lyrical content was good....ok thats always gonna be constant, hes Nas but on this song, Jay flow ran laps around Nas flow, and they both had the same beat so its not like one had a better chance then the other.
i didnt make this thread to really compare, i speak the truth, and if you listen to his verse clearly you can see he wanted to say so much he lost his flow tryna say it....it happens all the time, dude aint perfect and neither is jay. On black republicans Nas had the better flow, on success jay had it... i think it comes with the fact that of course, each artist had more time to get familiar with the beat...so if you wanna compare... the only thing you can compare is lyrics...and thats always gone be a fight between the hood people and the non hood people, because content is always a opinion of personal prefrence.

u have no idea what ur talking about
it IS with the beat you dumbfukk
Upbeat Flow - the stress is on the "expected" beat
Downbeat Flow - the stress is on the "unexpected" beat
Nas combines the 2 and does and after-beat flow on songs too
Jay is always on the Upbeat flow
rappers on here know what i mean
this is why rappers think Nas is the greatest and he's a rapper's rapper
you wouldn't understand it becuz you, well, you just don't get it, even if you rap
your ear is probably just tailored to the upbeat flow cuz you don't have enough hiphop vibe to catch the rhythm's of the down-beat flow inside your mind

jay is a great rapper
alot of rappers study him especially now because the upbeat flow is what everyone does now since it's easier on the ear from first listen and hiphop is so much bigger than it was in the 90's, they study him for the flow too but for the style, lyrics, etc.
look at ali vegas for the best example of flow changes
he sounds more like jay-z now instead of nas cuz he went from a downbeat flow to an upbeat flow
jay's the most complete living emcee as far as mainstream to underground
