i know...but for some reason Jay-Z is being praised as this great artist, i guess the fans have no other expection than COKE RAPS........the nicca hasn't made an effort to push the envelope, Kingdom Come and Blueprint seemed like that, but i think overall he is just some old ass nicca in a Second Childhood, too busy trying to keep up with the young "dopeboys" like Jeezy , Weezy and others....

hmmm,

Look at how far he's made it in life. From the very bottom of the bottoms to literally, the top of the pops..(yes very corny)

I enjoy listening to iconic figures, tell their stories. Its espescially nice when the story teller is clever and is willing to tell his code of ethics and become very personal with the listener...

Ontop of the fact that he's using some lesser know producers and is willing to change up his sound once again.

Perhaps you are a loser and you will never achieve anything in your life, thats why you cannot appreciate American Gangster, and JayZ's memoir if you will

jay-z is not an american gangster with his drug raps

he aint a drug dealer he's a rapper pretending to be one

the corporate companies just push jay as their posterboy as the greatest hustler rapper and everyone believes it like 8 mile movies

it's all bullshhit, keep fallin 4 it

i'll go listen to reasonable doubt and hear the same shhit being said a million times better

jay-z is washed up

ps - nas killed the whole album with one verse

Im not sure what the hell you are saying

Whats different? Whats different in your everyday life. Do you go from an accounting job one day, to jumping out of helicopters and saving endangered seals the next?

No, he grew up as a drug dealer. And he still has a pretty morally corrupt job as a music executive in charge of keeping the companies profile street.

Ill take a quote from the Album, for instance....

"Don't waste your time, fighting the light, stay your course, and you'll understand"

If you don't like it, cool.. but why focus your energy on so much hate?

indeed. he's expressed similar sentiments in the interviews leading up to the album. personally, i was diggin kingdom come, i thnk im one of the few fans who would rather he continue in that direction artistically. hopefully this is just a "concept album". i thnk dudes just make these type of threads for arguments sake. if someone were to attack an artist like ghostface, who at the exact same age as jay, is putting out nearly identical material. it'll be brushed to the side.

Exactly. Who gives a fukk if the fans couldn't get with his more mature raps? People mature and phase into different stages of their life. Jay shouldn't have to apologize for it and minimize his subject matter just to appease, but he caved in and used the movie as an excuse to do so. Apparently Jigga is not only a camel but a sheep who follows whatever people tell him to rap about.

Exxxxxxactly.

Niqqas cried a river last year like a bunch of babies cause Jay didn't cater to what they wanted to hear from 'em... now they wanna bring up his age and how he's a CEO now. He explained that sh*t last year and there was somethin' wrong with it- now y'all makin' these threads sayin' the same sh*t he was rappin' about last year when y'all were complainin'.

That's why I'm glad Nas hasn't fed into all you niqqas who wanna re-live Illmatic and make him work w/ Pete Rock, LP, and Primo. If he came out rappin' about the sh*t he rapped about back then, y'all niqqas would be on some "but Nas is a grown man that's married and we know he ain't in Queensbridge anymore"... and y'all know it.

:gag:

haha, but seriously.

There is nothing dignified about coke selling. But how you carry yourself, and empower those around you is what makes this album empowering. Like Kanye has said in the past, Jay and his team are Black Jews spreading wealth among themselves. The way he carries himself and the diction he chooses is what makes him sophisticated..Atleast in my opinion but people here already have their minds made up..

He's never said he's an angel for selling Coke, or selling Coke Rhymes. He's just telling his point of view..

And this appeals to me, as an idealist for peace, love & unity, but a sucka for expensive clothes and power moves. Feel me?

I like the album.

You don't.

who are all these people that hated seeing Jay act his age on Kingdom Come?

maybe it was the beats or the topics he chose to touch on. just cause he might not have pulled the idea off doesn't mean folks wanted to hear him revert to coke raps. there's more than one way to skin a cat.

it might not be my favorite album but that's certainly not because i wanted the "old Jay-Z." if anything his change of direction was a bright spot. the execution just needed work. and since this is supposedly a concept album i'll assume he didnt abandon ship but instead took a brief detour.
