Whats so dignified? He's wearing suits with Bow Ties now..
:gag:
haha, but seriously.
There is nothing dignified about coke selling. But how you carry yourself, and empower those around you is what makes this album empowering. Like Kanye has said in the past, Jay and his team are Black Jews spreading wealth among themselves. The way he carries himself and the diction he chooses is what makes him sophisticated..Atleast in my opinion but people here already have their minds made up..
He's never said he's an angel for selling Coke, or selling Coke Rhymes. He's just telling his point of view..
And this appeals to me, as an idealist for peace, love & unity, but a sucka for expensive clothes and power moves. Feel me?
I like the album.
You don't.
Next topic?
how is he spreading wealth when jay-z acts like he is the only one on Def Jam's roster?
Piffstopher Walken

who are all these people that hated seeing Jay act his age on Kingdom Come?
maybe it was the beats or the topics he chose to touch on. just cause he might not have pulled the idea off doesn't mean folks wanted to hear him revert to coke raps. there's more than one way to skin a cat.
it might not be my favorite album but that's certainly not because i wanted the "old Jay-Z." if anything his change of direction was a bright spot. the execution just needed work. and since this is supposedly a concept album i'll assume he didnt abandon ship but instead took a brief detour.
yea but whats so concept about it, frank lucas and jay-z are like...two totally different people, sold two totally different drugs, on two totally different levels...
what I'm trying to say is, jay-z needs to stop putting himself before his artists signed to his label..
just cause the movie is going to be classic, don't mean he has to ride the coat tails of it with a rushed soundtrack, thats not even the official soundtrack

how is he spreading wealth when jay-z acts like he is the only one on Def Jam's roster?
well to be perfectly honest.
You don't really know what goes on in those offices...Who knows, maybe Meth, Joe Budden and LL have no value anymore. Maybe they are pre-occupied with other things like, Weed, PCP, and Vaseline..Who Knows.. Maybe their deals are so good that Jay doesn't wanna bother losing points for Island-DefJam-Universal and releases albums from Duffle Bag Boys, Rick Ross, and Jeezy instead..cause he knows he will bring more revenue off the top..who knows really
this topic is just nitpicking at this point. seriously..Don't you people spreading hate have anything positive to say about something else?

just a question man...
What is so classy or dignified about a rapper rhyming about coke selling???
especially if this same rapper started his career off with the same subject 10 years prior???
im sorry , i just want him to do other shyt........and this music was not made with care and precision..u know damn well it was rushed, first it was a mixtape now all of a sudden it's an album.....
damn..i feel sorry for the other def jam artists that gotta have thier projects pushed back cause your CEO is having a mid life crisis..
seen alot of promo for AG have you? i'm asking, i really wanna know. whose promo budget did he cut into? i seriously doubt anyone got pushed back for him to drop an album. better yet, which rapper on Def Jam would you like to see drop under similar circumstances? Method Man? One video, and a rushed release on an album made only a month ago? You'd all be crying foul.
it's funny how people will say he has the same subject matter when his subject is usually himself. johnny cash had the same subject too and nobody's upset. i actually wish that somebody for just a second would simply acknowlege that they simply dont like the man, want to see him fail, and call it as it is. instead of going out of your way to make up, quite frankly, some of the most feeble bullshyt

i think ppl shud give hov move credit. he can set the world record for the oldest dude still rappin about drugs. it aint a thang for some young 20 year old cat to be rappin about it, but how sick is it to see a 40 year old do it. in 20 years, hov will be a 60 year old still rappin about coke n drugs. that would be like jordan winnin championships all the way til hes 60. simply amazing.

Exxxxxxactly.
Niqqas cried a river last year like a bunch of babies cause Jay didn't cater to what they wanted to hear from 'em... now they wanna bring up his age and how he's a CEO now. He explained that sh*t last year and there was somethin' wrong with it- now y'all makin' these threads sayin' the same sh*t he was rappin' about last year when y'all were complainin'.
That's why I'm glad Nas hasn't fed into all you niqqas who wanna re-live Illmatic and make him work w/ Pete Rock, LP, and Primo. If he came out rappin' about the sh*t he rapped about back then, y'all niqqas would be on some "but Nas is a grown man that's married and we know he ain't in Queensbridge anymore"... and y'all know it.
And WOW @ Piffstopher Walken... you got two hate campaigns goin' on- one over here, and one on the IC. It's ridiculous.
The thing is ppl didnt like KC because dude didnt come with anything original once again. Its like he is ammune to rapping about social/political issues. If he would went that route on KC ppl woulda loved him.All he did was rap like he was better than his peers and fans. The reason Nas has been around so long is because of his content. Its like if Jay cant to radio singles and coke raps he has no subject matter. Its a shame Frank Lucas' can inspire a 38 year old man but Malcolm X cant.

when he rapped from a 40 year old CEO's perspective yall called him wack and said he lost it...now that he's giving you the "ignorant sh1t" that you know you want...the ignorant sh1t that you jock and love (dumb *****s ****ting on AG, but calling **** like hell hath no fury a classic), he's making fun of you dumb ass fickle flip flopping fans...if this CD gets hated on it will prove once again that the general buying public today is a bunch of homotional confused little pricks who dont really know what they want from an artists...maybe artists will stop caring about what you assholes think and start making music for themselves
i loved and respected kinddom come because that was the album jay wanted to release, from his perspective in that time of his life, everybody wanted the "old jay" back...got it, and now they're *****ing, it's geting harder and harder to take you *****s seriously yo
I love it how people wanna put a spin on Kingdom Come's wackness and make excuses for it by dissing the fans because they didnt like that garbage. "You dont apperciate grown up music" "Jay's music was too advance for the youngins" Fucc outta here.. That album was weak! I loved songs such as Lost Ones, Minority Report, Dig a Hole, and 30 Something. But alot of the songs on there were medicore to average. Even Jay said that album was a mistake. I dont knock the mans subject manner and I apperciated the fact that he wanted to talk about different things other than Guns and Drugs but that doesnt mean that we still have to act like we have to like it!
I love grown up music too.. I feel albums like The Fix, God Son, LB's Minstrel Show, Kanye's Late Restriction, Graduation, and even Snoop's Blue Carpet Treatment were better albums and doesnt alienate none of the core fanbases...He withdrew himself from the Black audience putting out garbage like Hollywood, Beach Chair, Show Me What You Got(Which featured Lil Wayne bodying him with a better version).
The fact of the matter is JayZ aint putting out hotness like he use too. He's still one of the best out but Aside from DP III, Success and Roc Boys.. I dont think American Gangster is gonna be anything special. He seems to suffer from the same problem that Nas is suffereing from. For one they need to go back to giving what the fans really want and thats GOOD MUSIC! Like Banner said that he wants Nas to come back spitting that heat and get back into his NY state of Mind. People want Jay to be spitting that heat. I believe both him and Esco need to holler at Primo, Pete Rock, Alchmest, Dre, and many others to recreate the magic because lyrically they still have it.

But Jay Z is a mega successful, business minded "young" man. Why hurt his stockholders by acting out like an uncivilized oaf and speak on subjects he probably doesn't have an interest in?
Face it, you knew this since 97, when he was in that shiny ass video with foxy brown..Wearing those wack expensive suits and sipping on some weird foreign drinks.
I don't why ya'll are holding your breath for Jay to turn into Immortal Technique and rap about government funded genocide or some****. He's donated to charities..Helped bring clean water to Africa, what more do you want from him? To show up in the white house with an AK and an NWA TShirt on?

he aint a drug dealer he's a rapper pretending to be one
the corporate companies just push jay as their posterboy as the greatest hustler rapper and everyone believes it like 8 mile movies
it's all bullshhit, keep fallin 4 it
i'll go listen to reasonable doubt and hear the same shhit being said a million times better
jay-z is washed up
ps - nas killed the whole album with one verse

on top of that Jay blatently bit Eminem and attempted to sh*t on the people who helped get him to where he is today, as he confirmed on the black album.
Funny he had nothing to say after Klein called him out on Kay Slay's show, he aint wanna speak on nothing at the Angie Martinez show... now that he's on a track wit Nas he wanna poke out his chest :thumbsdow

He raps about the the dopegame based on movie thats based on a story from the 70s. So in which way if you are supposed to make a sountrack to this movie you will still hate.
What was so amazing about nas talking about dope when he was 20 years old? when its known fact that a 40 year old ex drugdealer knows 100 times more than a 20 year old "drugdealer"

Jay stans amuse me, Jigga was looking for a chance, any chance to get back in the game and AG the movie gave him the chance to rap about his favourite subject Cocaine.
Jay strikes me as someone who will never leave the rap game he can't his ego won't let him.
His not going to stop putting out albums until everyone agrees that his come back with another classic which he never will again.
It's going to be diminishing returns from here on out.

Real talk. Someone made a thread about how badly he really wants to be white and I gotta agree. It's not about maturity its about seperating himself from the common black person. 30 Something wasn't a song about maturity, it was a song about wealth and status. I know plenty of 30 somethings that still shop at the mall or vacation in Miami..In Jay's eyes that makes them "less mature" when in actuality the average common black person in their 30's lives the life he was mocking in the song.. It was a way for him to take a shot at poor people and the middle class and wrap it up into some coming of age anthem..
The album (KC) didnt go over everybodies heads it was just corny. Who cares that his new friends are Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris from Coldplay if all the dudes he grew up with and made millions with are calling him fake and shady?
He wouldn't cheat on his girl with Free because she's beneath him, but wouldn't hesitate to get some Angelina Jolie comfort? The average black man doesnt relate to that mindstate.. He didnt go over our heads he just insulted us as a people..His elitist attitude and keeping up with the Clampett's mentality is what caused people not to relate to the album.

I'm not Jay's biggest fan but damn, he got some haters on here. Got cats dedicating long winded essays on why they hate him and his music. If you don't like the album, just do not buy it.
Personally, I feel Jay is too comfortable at this point in his life and is rapping just to rap, and so is not too inspired to change the game on some new sh!t.
It's better than Kingdome Come but not that much to shout about at the same time.

Why wouldn't it be? From Rakim to now, fashion has always been a part of hip-hop culture.
And lyrically, he changed the game in a major way. Sh*t, even cats like AZ borrowed his flow. By 1998, damn near every rapper was doing that "ten in your range/ten in your dame" type of flow. Sh*t, Cam does it so much now he surpassed Jay wit it.

When u are crowned the best rapper alive by your peers ppl are going to hold u in a high regard and be very critical of your music. If he is doin music thats not above his peers he will be criticized for it.In the 11 years dude been on the scene u can only name like 2 social/political songs from his catelogue Actually u cant even name 1.Lost 1's is not a social or political song. Its more of a Autobiography song.Dude dont give a damn about the black youth and he makes it apparent. He never makes any uplifting songs.ppl want growth from dude and im not talking growth as from wearing throwbacks 1 year and button up's the next im talkin about socially awareness type growth. If he starts talkin dat black pride sh_t all his white friends at universal and the nets are gon look at him funny and probably stop doin business with him.Thats what he afraid of.He has never pushed the envelope his whole career.ppl just followed him because of the coke image and he from Brooklyn and was bigs man.

When u are crowned the best rapper alive by your peers ppl are going to hold u in a high regard and be very critical of your music. If he is doin music thats not above his peers he will be criticized for it.In the 11 years dude been on the scene u can only name like 2 social/political songs from his catelogue Actually u cant even name 1. your problem is that you dont know what a social or political song is. all a "social song" is, is a song that is dealing with a social issue. dude has countless songs dealing with social issues, youre just too stupid to recognize them. fuk do you think songs like "can i live" "d'evils", "dopeman", "sistas and b1tches", and "meet the parents" are about? theyre about social issues you idiot.it comes down to thisWAS THE CD GOOOD?
