Nas has a background and a resume of conscious thoughts. And it has been a growth pattern in what he says. Nas goes into a wider realm of accepting that he is a man and can never turn back to being a boy again. That’s unlike a lot of cats who are in their thirties or into their mid-thirties all of a sudden feel that they can conveniently step into their adolescence to sell records; which I believe is some bullsh*t.

how is Chuck singling Jay out?
there's alot of dudes out right now that fall into the category he's talking about

Chuck D is the same guy who said Jay-Z is the greatest rapper ever
Also he is speaking more on guys like Fat Joe, Snoop and Cam'ron to me. That quote doesn't scream Jay-Z to me

Why does this verse have to with Jay? If anything, Jay, Nas and Common are three premiere artists who don't fit into that category. LL, Cam, etc. do.

most rappers are scared as hell to be men, nas is one of the few. all these other dudes still wanna be 17 year old boys. 50 talkin about he "fresh out the pen", jay-z talkin bout "they forgot to account what i did wit the raw", etc... n!ggas aint even tryin to make it sound like past sh*t, they talkin like they really doin this sh*t right now.. 1 out of every 30 rappers acts their age, the rest are on some Michael Jackson/Peter Pan sh*t.

chucks opinion, and honestly how do you know he's talking about jay? busta has been the biggest offender of this as of late, and chuck d also said that eminem is a great rapper...i dont see *****s running around co-signing him on that one, so it is what it is...and opinion, a subliminal one at that, if he was talking to jay-z, i feel like he should have said his name, chuck d is not a chump, and he believes in what he says...why be snide with it if he was going at dude?
either way, i dont agree...but respect just about anything that comes out of chucks mouth, anybody "dissing" him over this is a homo
and remember...the fans wanted this, this is what you *****s were asking from jay after he got all "progressive" on you, so were gonna find out what "we" really want as a listener...just like when the eminem show dropped, *****s were asking where is the pill popping, psycho, white boy...and he showed his crazy, white coked up ass on encore and wasnt funny anymore and everybody was dissapointed...be carefull what you ask for i guess

Jigga ain't scared to act his age. Kingdom Come anyone??? The sh!t is that when these n!ggas start actin' they age hip hop fans lose interest. And that's not a good thing for most these artists are the white men that pimp them. Nas is just soo dope that don't matter what he raps about he sounds like Jesus on the mic. After all these years. Unbelievable.

jay sold some albums. he just got discouraged by facing his age and having to keep it in that space. he knows he cant keep talking about 30 still being young and beach chairs, so he took it back.

You see the biggest problem wit' Kingdom Come was that it just wasn't all that good. Bottom line. Fvck what he was rappin bout - it just wasn't that good. Jay sounded like a tired ol man on it. Nas can make raps about the ills of society and the negative effects of white nationalism and still sound hard. It's his gift.
chuck is absolutely right but i dont see how this is directed at only at jay (even though he does qualify, LOL)

nothin about that album was jay actin his age, it was jay braggin on a corporate level, period. just cause he braggin about sh*t you don't understand don't mean he on some "grown up" sh*t. "my chick burnin down Bergdorf's, I'm in San Tropez" is not grown up just cause you can't relate, its just rich people talk, he braggin as usual just on a different level.

Chuck speaks the truth, but he's wrong in a way. There's no age associated with being a dumba$$ just as there's no age associated with being intelligent or wise. Anybody can make music about being a dumba$$ just as anybody can make music that inspires positivity. It's all about your individual mindset. As long as you're responsible for your actions and you own up to the consequences of your decisions, all bets are off. Honestly, nobody has to "Grow Up" or act the way others think you should act. As long as you're being true to yourself, then it's all good. The only time it's really fake is when you're whole steeze is just... fake and you know it. Don't pretend to be something you're not and it's alright with me.

true, but at a certain point in life, after experiencing different things, youth is no longer the half excuse it once was qualified to be.
in a more articulate way, this is what master p was saying to 50.

but i'm sayin, look how the fans reacted to KC, they werent ready...as soon as the ***** started "acting his age" they started dissing him
that was his least shallow effort of an album ever, was lyrically better than even some of his "classics", and had decent productions with a few duds
and *****s called it the worst jay-z album ever...why is that? you see what i mean? same **** happened to em...MMLP was a creative masterpiece, but the content got old quick because it was childish, people said the thing that kept it from being "classic" was the content and that em should mature a bit
he turns around and drops the eminem show...and people say em fell off, because he's not crazy enough, he's talking too much about his real life...what the **** do these flip flopping ass fans REALLY want...they say they want the acid rap, slim shady character back...a 30+ year old slim shady shows up on encore and isnt as funny anymore
we have these artists afraid to be themselves unless they try to reach everybody or please every whim of the fans instead of just putting out product that they personally believe in, nas, win or lose has always done and said what he wanted to do..and has been consistantly successful while doing it, thats a feat

Sit ya monkey ass down. It's grown man talk mufvcka. San Tropez? Bergdorf's?? That's grown man sh!t right there, dingbat. I understand perfectly. He was braggin' but he was actin' his age. HIP HOP IS ABOUT BRAGGIN'. From the 70's to the 80's to present. It is what it is, G. I repeat - Kingdom Come was Jay's GROWN album. If you think cause he was braggin as usual that it wasn't then you don't know hip hop music.

NV, this isn't an insult in anyway, or meant to provoke a back-and-forth, but damn you really hate Jay-Z. You know, a lot of people make fun of Jay, but I get the feeling that you'd truly like to slap dude in the face or something.

listen fam...kingdom come is just interpertation, just like reasonable doubt was
it's the reasonable doubt of his corperate life...it was GROWN UP because jay himself has grown up...not just because he's making more money or hanging with a more diverse crowd, but because he's in a different space in life...all he did was take his experience in the corperate world and put it on a canvas...it was his detailed description of his life at the time, same **** that RD was...thats the only real way he knows how to record
*****s hate because they cant relate...well half of these chumps cant relate to moving bricks neither, i know i cant...but i can still feel those rhymes and be put in that perspective of another person and understand...so i'm asking myself, how come *****s "can" relate to moving major weight, but cant relate corperate life, responsibility and future plans (this is basically the bulk of KC's content)
yes he was still bragging to an extent...because he is STILL jay-z, jay-z is a big headed egomaniac...but he did it from a grown mans perspective, because he's 37, it wasnt like he went out of his way to have "grown up" material, it just came out that way, all that **** came from the mind of a 37 year old man, it had no other choice but to be a "grown up" album unless jay was lying to himself
and if these white boys can some how relate to being a drug kingpin, but never did it...i dont see how they cant relate to corperate life on a listeners level...i love that album because it's a true representation of what jay was goin thru at the time, the album HE wanted to release...not the album we wanted from him, but if we dont APPRECIATE those kinds of albums, we end up getting what that fans demand, and less of the pure unadulterated artist

talk about ithow about we take chuck's word instead of some lame internet jay z-hater? wheres your pride and self esteem?
Chuck D – legendary MC, Public Enemy founder, hip-hop philospher, activist, rap spokesmodel, all-round genius – was at Berklee last week to speak to a packed auditorium of high school and college students. Since it wasn’t open to the public, and since almost everything that comes out of his mouth is interesting, I hoofed it down on a press pass. "Jay-Z is the best rapper of all time," Chuck digressed, in the middle of a synopsis on the history of music, "but I'll get into more on that later."
