I mean, I guess the beat is alright as it is but it needs something to really set it off. It just seems too simple and I've tried added little things but nothing has really worked so far. Or maybe I'm way off and it's wack altogether LOL. Any suggestions?

it's not too simple, IMO. If I were you, I'd change the main synth melody because it just sounds off. Lay a fresh new melody with bassline and it'll be cool.

You shouold drop drop the hi hats in and out and throw a lil 808 change up too.

oh yeah and have a couple of parts where it's just the kick and snare/clap/hi hat
