NBS: Another question, this aint is no diss situation, but your first album and Nas' first album were similar to me personally, but different. Nas' second album kind of piggybacked off your whole "Sosa" thing and then he took off. How did you feel about that?
AZ: I dont hold no grudges man, it probably went that way because a few of my brothers that say that, but in reality that's my brother. Each one teach one, so whatever he did to capitalize off it , I'm happy for him. You know. Hopefully I'll capitalize soon because im doing what im doing. And it aint no hard feelings. Im here. Im in the best shape of my life ,man.

Nas song is talkin bout black girls who are forced to be in diffucult situations at home in the hood. Az song is about birds who want to make money off dudes by gettin wit them and takin them for a ride. How are these songs similar?

I said one of the first......if 10 dudes went plat b4 him then its still meant that he was one of the first when so many folks went plat after him.

You put it in perspective. More people felt his single than his actual album. They thought his single ws hot, but had no interest in the overall album, in conclusion AZ lost.

IWW was nothing like Doe Or Die
On Doe or Die AZ was still rapping about the same type of sh1t Nas was rapping about on Illmatic. That raw street sh1t.
But Nas had already moved on. He was already on his Escobar steez, rapping about mafioso type sh1t.

Nah Nas followed the "Only Built For Cuban Linx" and "Ready To Die" formula. Nas even admitted that on "Last Real N**ga Alive".
"BIG told me Rae was stealing my slang
And Rae told me out in Shaolin BIG would do the same thing
But I borrowed from both them *****z"
That mafioso persona Nas had was influnced heavily by "OB4CL", "Kool G Rap's 4,5,6" and "Ready To Die". If anything I think AZ had an impact on how Nas flowed.

Maaaan, you need to quit w/ that "AZ was one of the first..." sh*t. He wasn't one of the first East Coast artists to go plat with a single or to go plat at all, not by a longshot. If hip-hop started for you in '93 like a lot of internet board niqqas, then yeah, he's one of the first. But in reality, all these people went plat before AZ:
Run-DMC (NY)
Beastie Boys (NY)
LL Cool J (NY)
Kool Moe Dee (NY)
Salt-N-Pepa (NY)
Fresh Prince (Philly)
Public Enemy (NY)
De La Soul (NY)
Naughty By Nature (NJ)
ATCQ (NY)
Das EFX (NJ/NY)
Wu-Tang Clan (NY)
Method Man (solo) (NY)
Notorious B.I.G. (NY)
...and I'm sure I'm leavin' a few out...
