wuts the different? and wut is better?
Whey is a fast absorbing protein. 100% whey protein powders typically have a little over 100 calories per serving (1 scoop), ~25g of protein, a few grams of carbs, very little fat, and virtually no sugar.
Muscle Milk is a more of a meal replacement powder because it has more carbs, fats, and calories. The nice thing about it is that it's a protein blend which contains both whey and casein protein. Casein is a slow digesting protein which takes your body longer to digest. With the added casein, you get a longer and more steady stream of amino acids
I use a bunch of different protein powders (including Muscle Milk and 100% whey powders). I wouldn't say any of them are better (although there are some crappy protein powders out there) and I choose which one I'm gonna drink depending on what time of the day it is and what I'm doing.
I don't like to drink Muscle Milk after lifting because it's kinda high in fat and fat slows down digesting (and post workout is the last time of the day you want to slow down your digestion). I do, however, like to drink it as my pre workout meal to make sure I have a nice balance of carbs, fats, and protein in my system before lifting

C/S what this man has said 100%. And although I've been off Muscle Milk for awhile, it's great to use right before bed.
Another method I use is taking 1 1/2 scoops of Whey Protein Powder, 8-10oz of Fat-free milk, and 1 tbs of natural peanut butter and combining them in my Magic Bullet blender...tastes great.

thats interesting...because i used to take muscle milk after workouts and at bed....and i was generally more "cut" when i was on it...
I stopped for awhile and started just using the monster abb 50grams of protein can shakes...althought i have the same strength...i was more cut and lean using the muscle milk.
One thing u got to remember is that the fats in muscle milk are not your typical...u can't really look at the fat on the back of muscle milk and think you're dealing with the same fat you'll get out of cheeseburger lol.

the caseins in muscle milk are good right before you go to bed because it keeps your body from going catabolic, or breaking down muscle. A good mix of both is key though.

i dont fukk wit soy period.
Whey is good for post workout..like RIGHT after u workout or even before.
Casein absorbs slower so most people take it in the morning or before bed.
I would suggest taking a 100% whey protein shake right after a hard workout and taking Casein before bed. U can also take those protein mixtures...my fav is the ABB Extreme Body 50...has both whey and casein protein mixture...u CAN take these right after a workout AND before bed...i've gotten good results with these shakes.
Muscle Milk has given me the best results....the ONLY reason i've stopped is because im trying to do some more research on a certain ingredient in it that SUPPOSEDLY leads to health problems in the future....i'll get back to you on the name of the ingredient dont remember off top...but i read a article on it and it scared me into not taking it no more lol. A lot of people discredited this article tho so that's why im doing research on it just to make sure...i actually wanna get back on muscle milk because the results i got with that shyt were crazy.

You're thinking of glycocyamine. You can read up on the potential dangers on t-nation. (http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do;jsessionid=1934336715ECCB6666F95E4351A9C87B.hydra?id=123152 3)
The good news is that CytoSport has since taken it glycocyamine out of MuscleMilk due to the bad press. Some stores may still have the old tubs that contain it but it's no longer being made with it. Just be aware that many creatine powders contain it so you really should read labels and be aware about what you're putting into your body
jenkins is right on the money about the proteins but there have been some studies done which suggest that a protein blend of whey and casein is more effectively absorbed than whey or casein alone. I'm not sure if the difference is tangible but it's worth looking into.
I also avoid soy because it contains high levels of phytoestrogens. There's no conclusive proof but the general belief in bodybuilding is that phytoestrogens either raise estrogen levels or decrease testosterone levels. I get enough protein from animal sources and milk sources that don't need to rely on vegetable sources (like soy) for protein so it's no problem for me to avoid it

soy is better....muscle milk is okay
Whey (Isolate) and Casein should be the only proteins in a lifters diet. Soy is highly overrated and feasible for old folks and the lactose intolerant.
Muscle Milk is a good protein but in my opinion is overpriced and not made for everyone. Its ok every once in a while but just don't go overboard on it. It is fairly high in Fat and is not ideal for cutting diets. Not to mention the high amounts of Iron which can lead to serious constipation in most people if too much is taken.
Muscle Milk contains Casein and Whey, but the actual amounts of each are unknown.
If you ask me, I'll tell you plain old Whey protein is good enough (ON 100% for me). Its the fastest to absorb following workouts, low in fat, high in protein, and more affordable. If you want Casein, then drink more Milk and eat Cheese.
What are some good tasting whey out there? The kind Im on now is awful, I have to choke it down.

Only if you are fairly low in body fat to begin with.
