hendrix was a amazing but i dont know that he was the first to write a heavy metal song.i know the term comes from steppenwolf's born to be wild but im not sure that it predates hendrix.

im a little biased as i worship iommi and consider him the archetype for heavy metal guitarist,but in my opinion the song black sabbath by black sabbath was the first true heavy metal song.
