Looked at obstacles that our ancestors faced during slavery. Discusses the adaptive behavior behaviors they developed, positive and negative that allowed them to survive. These behaviors have been passed down through generations. This was witnessed in the Jim Crow laws, lynchings, de facto segregation, grandfather clauses, poll taxes, restrictive covenants, redlining, gentrification and other assorted measures which arose to maintain the status quo.
