Things aren't in Jay-Z's favor whatsoever in a mic battle with LL Cool J. I'm not talking about his skills or his ability to put out a nasty record. Back in '88 it would've been skills. In '93 it was all skills. In '96 disses began becoming way too personal for all the wrong reasons, but it was still about the better record. Today, the fans refuse to judge a battle by the actual content of the material released. It's all about who made X amount of money, how their career went after the battle, or some other bullshyt. 50 has made a career out of losing battles and then claiming the W simply because his larger fanbase says so and because he has more money.
Then there's LL Cool J. The "battler of battlers". The last time he took on Canibus, the people got together and handed him an honorary victory like Scorcese winning an Oscar for the Departed. Canibus roatsed him and LL responds with a weak subpar song...and the fans pretended he won.
Compare that to Jay-Z. People want him to lose so badly they've been able to taste it since '01. Every rapper who attacks him gets an automatic win that doesn't last more than a month. Remember when Cam "beat" him? Or when Jim Jones' dumb antics classified as a win because they hated Jay? Nowadays people co-sign bums like Jaz and Dehaven hoping that will finally do it.
So what do you get when you combine a rapper people want to see win one more time with a rapper that people want to see finally lose? A rigged battle.

Nas bodied Jay, now another Queens dude is making 'preparations.'
LL went up against Canibus that he was supposed to lose badly too...so battle tested is an understatement.

Brilliant. This is a "no win" situation for Jay, theres absolutely no reason to respond to LL's publicity stunt.

when the hell is LL's album supposed to come out? LL should be a boss at Def jam, and own a piece of the company.. him, the Beasties, Public enemy, Slick Rick..
after this album, LL should go to columbia and get Rick Rubin to produce a comeback album..

LL beat Canibus. I dont see how its even debatable. "Ripper Strikes Back" predicted Bis' whole future. Bis sounded like a woman scorned on "2nd Round KO".

Ripper strikes back was just everything Canibus said flipped around. He gets no points for that, that's not innovative or creative.

what exactly are some of Jay's "rigged fights"?
you list Jim Jones and Cam but nobody took that shiit seriously. Dehaven and his little DVD is in the same category.
so what rigged fights are we talking about?
i don't think i've seen anyone state the obvious yet. the people are automatically going to want LL to win because we aint heard from him in a while and he's LL. i mean, Nas did rip Jay-Z but what made it so overwhelming of a win to the people is because Nas was kind of on the low while Jay was shinin during that whole time leading up to it, the people wanted Nas to win. people love the underdog.

LL needs to pull rank and put out the album now-- Jay Z is prepared to drop his own album in November, which will likely cannibalize LL's sales if the album comes out in December or january..

Co-sign.
LL is a legend so it's gonna be a rugged battle (if it goes down), but also just like when going against Nas, Hov will be considered the favorite in this battle so if LL can put up a fight he'll score points automatically.
