Here's an affordable one that you can use to get your foot in the door at many gyms. I passed this one with what I already learned. Its pretty easy also, you can take the test for free, then pay when ready. It last 2 years.
Im studying for my ncsf one also, but this one will allow me to work at my gym @ a 30 dollar per hour rate once I get some clients.
A lady that was in my ncsf class uses this one and shes able to do her thing, shes backed up with female clients right now, shes really in shape and knows what shes doing also.
Just a heads up.

no problem...I know golds takes it also...La Fitness doesnt, but they pay 12per hour...no real reason to work there with a better cert unless you need to fill in slow hours or need benefits

That's great news, there's a two-story Gold's being constructed down the road which should be up in the next couple of months.
I'm currently a member at LA Fitness and I've been looking to change gyms anyway from the horrible management here.
I'll post an update once I take the exam for anyone else interested...

Heres a link just as backup for my statement...Yeah, let us know how it goes, good luck on that. You can probably get info prior to it opening also.

I did a search on gyms with IFA in google and it came up before I took it, but I asked the guy at my gym and he said yes....I just wanted to make sure it was valid for me also because he's real cool with that lady that took it. Im sure money is money to him so he isnt playing favorites.
They charge 60, we get 30....I also saw some private places out east where money is. They pay 70per hour to trainers...Im gonna look around there also and see if I can get lucky training a milf or some businessmen or something.

What made u pick that site for personal trainer certification? I did a google search and tons of online personal trainer certification sites came up, so does it really matter which one u choose? They all seem to be offering the same things with some including workshops. Just wondering..............

Alot of the certs can take a while for you to get due to the nature of the courses. Theres alot of psyiology, so it may seem like medical school to some. This one was recommended to me by the lady at my gym, she said it would allow me to work there and was no where as intensive as the other cert Im doing, which is better and more recognized. There are probably many that are probably better, but I just went off of a recommendation.
Basically this would allow me to work right now if I want to. I already submitted my info to my gym so all is a go. I knew enough to pass it on the 1st try, but the NCSF on the other hand, I will not take until Im comfortable with all the info.

I would also like to know. I go to Ballys and I notice they have a high turnover rate with personal trainers. You'll always see a new one every couple of months so thats a company I probably wouldnt work for. I dont know much about the other gyms, 24 Hour, La Fitness, Golds Gym, etc, but i'm curious on the pay structure.

The turnover at the LA Fitness I go to is awful.....the trainers here (Body of Change) are pretty bad.

the ones with turnover rates that are high is because they pay them a low hourly 12 per@ LA and they have a sales quota also
I know private gyms that pay anywhere from 22-70 per hour (guaranteed) because they give you a work schedule.
Basiclally your salary can depend on the work you put in. The lady at my gym does 5-6 peeps a day makes over 50k from that + she does private clients at 75 per hour and she can come and go as she pleases.
Theres Ahmed Haidar (http://www.super-nutrition.net/uploadfiles/ahmad_haidar.jpg) at my gym, he trains, he makes his living off of that and this other Dude name Andy that has tons of clients

So at the private gyms the clients are given to u as opposed to Ballys or LA Fitness where u have to meet sales goals?
Also, are u going for a nutritionist certification?

Alot of private gyms have the clients already on tap, they have the money put aside for it and pay upwards of 150 per session, so you may get 70 out of it. At my gym I remember seeing a lady pay for 1500 dollars worth of training session at once:ohmy:
My gym, I have to obtain my own clients, the dude told me the 1st 2 months can be slow until you get enough clientele but after that its self sustaining. Id do it in my spare time while I do other things, but If I could get into a high paying private club, Id prioritize that

Im basically laying the groundwork now and I have six sessions booked as of today, but I have to nap on my hours off or else Ill drop. The transition of getting off at 9 then waking up at 5am is the hard part.
Once I have my own schedule itll be somewhat easier unless I have clients every morning at that time anyway
This is 90% time management

They were the new members, I get a list every evening to call. Upon signing they are told a trainer is calling them to book their free training sessions. The 1st day I was like ehhhh, but I got people that were actually waiting for me to call them for it.
Let me rephrase, Im doing the complimentary sessions right now and they are paying me while I learn and get clients. After my base is solid I will go over to the 50/50 split on $$$. Im kind of at an advantage because I get all of the new members over the other trainers and I get paid unlike the trainers that had to put in groundwork for free. Some trainer have been working for months before they were able to make it into a profitable situation for them.
The staff also puts training sessions in my planner at the desk, but one idiot booked one for sat and I dont even work on Sat, but I may go in if needed. I actually have to goto the gym to workout anyway.
Im glad my membership is now free
I go in early mornings and back in during the evening, the mornings are have no management so its stress free. I prefer it due to the type of members that are there also.Night time is meat heads and the showoffs, but everyone is pretty cool

Funny u say that cuz I go to Ballys and I also noticed their is a big difference between the morning and evening crowds. I go in the morning cuz the people and the entire atmosphere is alot more calm and chill compared to the evenings.
BTW: Why are they starting you out at a better advantage over the personal trainers before u? Was it your creditionals or did u have to negotiate that deal? Props on all the info. Keep us updated

They are doing this to help give me experience by training all new members and it also keeps me motivated to work because Im seeing some sort of paycheck while obtaining a client base before the switch over to the pay split the other trainers are on.
They will be doing this for everyone in the future I believe but it started with me

Im here now. Its about to get busy as hell. Im at powerhouse..its not bad.
You get a feeling of fulfillment when you finish a session and a person is satisfied. I have a few clients and more potentials soon. The people here are pretty cool.
I cant wait till my client base is up enough so I dont have to come in on these fixed hours
