i could understand back in the day before radio/tv/movies/games but today? why read books anymore? tv and movies and other technology brings what books say to life...books are obsolete. i haven't touched a book in 15 years. who would want to? their boring as hell. plus books kill trees, books need to stop being made. we have the technology of other media, we can stop stop killing the trees now.
Books enhance your own ability to express thoughts, whether in speech or writing. They're also a more cerebral form of entertainment than movies, games, or films. When you really get into a novel or a riveting non-fiction work, the words become nearly transparent and reading becomes a continuous transfer of new ideas (some that can't be expressed in any other media) into your mind. Finally, you're writing text on a forum, which largely consists of words, to tell us that reading is boring. Funny.
You might have a point about the unnecessary use of paper in this day and age, but I don't think you're aware that there actually are people out there making efforts to move to electronic paper so that we don't have to print books anymore.

"Paper kills trees" is a misconception. Paper comes from tree farm, not the rain forest.
And the printed word carries a different style of story telling. Words are used to create tension, rhythm, pace. You should feel lucky to be alive in a time when most people can read.

I read books.....I think I get way more information from books than I do from TV or the internet.

i just ordered 10 books on ebay for 10 dollars
They typically cost 30 bucks each. Reading is a cheap, entertaining hobby

Most books and movies follow the same format as the five act play so you're getting the same thing no matter what medium you prefer.

I love to read. Why limit yourself to one or two mediums? Books always have a place. Books do not kill trees. Last book I read said it was made from recycling. There is a sense of reward one gets when finishing a story or documentary. If you like sports or even if you don't, I would like to suggest this book...WHEN PRIDE STILL MATTERED : A Life of Vince Lombardi (http://www.amazon.com/WHEN-PRIDE-STILL-MATTERED-Lombardi/dp/0684844184)
