If this is true, I'm sure Ahmir will find someone even better than Hub. It's not like dude is a virtuoso or somethin.
Those damn chewsticks always got on my nerves anyway.

sad....Hub held the group together and he was un upright classical bassist.
IMHO, Questlove aint that explosive as a drummer.

y'all forget that they're playing in a hip hop band... hip hop doesn't call for anything that would display any "chops" so to say... ?uest and Hub could probably play on par or better than most better known musicians... but in hip hop who cares?

I see what you're saying, but if chops are unnecessary in hip hop, as you say, who cares if Hub gets replaced?

I was telling my boy, pretty son, there will be more ex-Roots than Roots. I said they should all form a band consisting of ex memebers and affiliates who dropped of the planet. People like Ben, Mars, Jason the Rubberband, Peanut, JazzeFat Nasties, Ursula Rucker, etc. and call the band G.Y.H.O.M.P. (Get Your Hands Out My Pockets). LOL

Uh, yes, he is a virtuoso. He was composing classical works as a preteen.

That's impressive, and I didn't know that, but I don't think that has anything to do with being a virtuoso. I take back what I said anyway, because dude can play. I just don't think he's irreplacable for the Roots, that's all.

I agree with you on that. I learned the whole live album on bass in less than an hour.

he didn't actually do that much on their records, but to an extent I've always considered their albums to be a setup (not in a bad way) for their shows, where he shined more.
