Are you able to lift more if you do leg training and arm training on the same day? I.e on chest day you come in, do squats, then do your chest routine? Or does it not really matter? I'm trying to figure out how to set up my work out as I want to change the order every month.

Also are deadlifts more of a back exercise or a leg exercise?

I do Legs and biceps and my strength feels about the same.as far as legs and chest i wouldnt do it.doing squats takes a lot of energy and by the time to get to your chest routine youll be tired and weak.

Deadlifts is more of a total body exercise it stresses a lot of different muscles.I myself add it on leg day after squats to fry the hamstrings.

So you do have a separate leg day? What exercises do you do for that day?

I'm not sure if makes a difference. But the idea of isolation is to prevent over training. I would think as long if there no pro longed pain or injuries, your straight. I do a complete workout from the traps down, 3 days a week and have no problems.

I would try diffrent routines to find out the one with the most results.

deadlifts main target is the lower back, so yes its technically a back exercise. However, its also a compound exercise which also targets the entire body.

me personally, I train legs by itself. I try not to group it with other muscle groups because my leg routine takes ALOT out of me energy wise. Few times, I'll do some triceps after doing legs. But some folks do legs with chest, shoulders or back. So it really depends on the individual, theres no one single way to do it.

no way i could deadlift and squat in the same day.... deadlifts completely drain me

I feel like I'm doing squats and deadlifts wrong, I do them at the start of workout days and I'm good to go. They drain me, but the way you guys talk it's like after you do them you fall out.

Although I stopped doing squats at the beginning of my chest day, and my bench went up a good 10-20#. I pushed out 4x185 last week, the week before I couldn't even get 175 off my chest after doing squats beforehand. So maybe they did have an effect.

I'm gonna have a leg day today...

5 sets of squats
4 sets of leg presses
4 sets of leg curls
4 sets of sitting calf raises.

As soon as I get over this hangover.

sometimes after squats i feel like im in outer space and little birds and stars are spinning around my head

then the last couple weeks i decided to od and do deadlifts immediately after squats, rather than on back day cuz i changed my form a bit and get my quads into it a lot more

I'm really not finding squats hard... I'm up to 245x4 right now, basically going horizontal

I did the above workout though, going in thinking I could do shoulders... I was dead, I did abs after the legs and came home. I'll do shoulders tomorrow

i guess it depends on how heavy you go with squats, because i dont start to feel the energy drain til my 3/4th set when im up to around 405 ish, going as full as possible, grunting, vains popping outta my head, looking like a rabid pitbull for 10 reps until i put that **** back on the rack, and just lean against the bar for a minute and walk in circles

i used to do shoulders on leg days tho...i only do two parts now when i miss a day
