I was one of those dudes :(

I'm scared to do squats, I just realized I was doing them wrong.

Sh*t, one time I sweatin' my ass off doin' squats...and I leaned forward too far and the bar just rolled off my neck.

Thankfully, I ain't get hurt...

But I had to put some powder on my neck to calm down that sweatin'. Plus I took more care to straighten out my back.

I see what u saying...but your not supposed to go below paralel cause your knees might get fuked up.

What about when dudes doing dumbbell curls where they only go halfway down and they use their body's momentum to get it up.

He's talkin' about people barely bending their knees, though.

I don't think anyone would consider someone going parallel to the ground as slightly bending their knees.

i read on bodybuilding.com that goin past parallel is not only bad for your knees, but the only benefit you get in it works your glutes extra.

so you niqqas goin past parallel is doin nuffin but gettin you a bigger butt:thumbsdow

smh at you niqqas bein able to audition for apple bottom modeling:thumbsdow

i got to slightly above parallel.

I don't think I'll be able to do 225 next time I go for squats :(

Taller folks like myself can't go completely parallel with heavy weight; it's not worth the damage to your knees. There really is no huge benefit going too low on squats, like homie said before... the benefit doesn't outweigh the risk.

I'm thinkin' none of you read his original post.

"barely bending there knees"

That's what he said.

I have NEVER seen or heard anyone talk about someone going parallel as just "barely bending their knees".

I know some dudes who go ass bottom...and that's cool I guess...no need for it...I'm goin' parallel and that's it...If I can't go parallel, then I'm doin' too much weight.

I only go all the way to the bottom when I do **** squats. Leg press I go down to the chest a lot too.

*Knocks on wood*

Never had to use straps for my knees or anything. But I don't squat a huge amount. Well not for my size anyway. Hell, I don't even use a belt.

I'll go below parallel with somethin' light like 225. If I wanted, I could with 315 but no need. When I was in college I would drop rock bottom with 405 just to do it. Not a lot of weight, I know...but when you're 6'5, goin down that far and comin' all the way up is a lot harder than when you're 5'9. Anything heavier than 405 and I'm just doin' parallel. I can't do more than 545 goin' parallel.

But now I'm past it...if it ain't practical or if the risks outweigh the rewards then I ain't fukkin' with it...

Also, the taller you are the harder it is to get your form down with that much weight on your back. Tall guys tend to good morning the squat bar a bit when they come out their stance which takes the weight off the heels. So its kinda like tall guys just gotta figure out whats best for them without hurting themselves.

Guys that are 6' and under though, it shouldnt be much of an issue. I squat all the way down on my warm up sets to activate ALL the muscles in my legs. I dont give a fukk about getting a "apple bottom" cause I understand the physiology of weight lifting and know that wont happen. When I lift heavy though, I go exactly to parallel, maybe slightly lower. Sometimes I wrap my knees as a precaution but I dont kneed ( ) to. I think squatting deep has definitely made my legs more shapelier, and I've also been able to jump a little higher.

Man you don't need all that shyt. Just get whey protein isolate and some creatine. Dudes were getting huge off eggs and steak back in the day, all that extra shyt is unnecessary.

I hear what your saying ,im 6'5 and my knees are ok.with me using 225lbs thats fairly light which is why i go deep.I would never try to take more than 300lbs in the bucket,i have a little sense.

Its more advanced. Why not take advantage of technology and scientific studies?

Dudes back in the day were no way in the same shape as they are today. Example look at nba players back then. Most dudes were hella scrawny.

They were more symmetrical back then (bodybuilders) and tapered.

Freakish size is what's in now.

Cats hittin' the stage at 5'10 and 245...5% BF or less probably walkin' around off season at over 270 and maybe 10% BF.
