DOE OR DIE >>>>>>>>>>>>>> REASONABLE DOUBT

uncut raw > cant knock da hustle
rather unique > dead presidents
suga hill > feelin it
mo money mo murda > d'evils
world dont stop > aint no n1gga
doe or die > bring it on

suga hill remix > can i live remix

My assessment is doe or die is better

i'll honestly be disgusted if a jigga warrior comes in here saying RD was better then Doe or Die

jigga was nice on RD, but lyrically and flow wise he isn't on AZ's level. especially on Doe or Die.

same with the production. Doe or Die was better. maybe if every beat on RD was as good as Politics as Usual it would be different story

you're right..

both are classics though... and Jay doesn't have any songs on reasonable doubt touching "Rather Unique"

Can I live is the only song coming close..

I suggest you make this into a poll to make jay stans upset

i disagree

the RD beats didn't give you the feeling and essence of the NY streets like the beats on Doe or Die did.

Sugar Hill Remix is just

beat gives me chills

not to mention Doe or Die didn't have any lame skits

it was much better overall

DOD and RD were considered about equal albums when they came out, at the least. What rewritten history? If anything Do or Die got more praise when it was first released because AZ was well more known back then. You dudes showing your age.

For the record, I prefer RD to do or die. I like the beats better.

i like both of them the same in terms of favoritism but the threadstarter only compared like 6 songs and even then, i dont agree w/ half of them.

reasonable doubt is clearly better but you can still make a nice case for doe or die like the threadstarter did.

doe or die is the most underrated album ever but reasonable doubt is top 10 all-time.

im luvin this thread, regardless.

Its crazy how the Gimme Yours remix was never on Doe Or Die. I always preferred over the original. Hoe Happy Jackie was also a tight song.

mrsixmics
08-03-07, 09:25 PM
they had a remix for gimme yours?

rochester, you cant take sugar hill out of the top 6 mayne. thats probably one of my top 25 fav rap singles. im gonna write the verses of my life and redo that song if i choose to start rappin for real. i pretty much already got one of my jawns to lay down the hook if i want.

Mo Murda, Sugar Hill, Ho Happy Jackie, Gimme Yours, Rather Unique

^ These are classics and there's a couple other decent songs on the album.

But Reasonable Doubt is a lot better to me.

mrsixmics
08-03-07, 09:31 PM
^couple of other decent songs? every song on there is sick at the least.

a better thread would be doe or die >> ready to die

well, theres less similarities but i think doe or die may be better than ready to die.

I just don't see it as being up there as a classic album.

If this was a classic album AZ would be thought of as more of a legend than he is now, imo.

I think Doe or Die is the better album. It has better songs and is more cohesive. You just seem to feel AZ spittin over melodic beats over Jay-Z sometimey nonchalant lyrics & flow. The album flows better while Reasonable Doubt is all over the place. And why didn't anyone mention Uncut Raw..my second fav track on the album.

But truthfully, I wouldn't even call Doe or Die a classic. More like a banger such as War Report (btw..War Report is better than Reasonable Doubt too...damn).

RD without question, and I love AZ in general and I love Doe or Die as an ambum. But it jsut isn't better.

lol @ saying "i love AZ" like it will make your argument hold more weight

sorry jigga jockies, it doesnt work like that

Doe or Die was better lyrically, production wise, and overall

Doe or Die>RD easily, AZ was in the zone damn so many great albums dropped in the '90's it makes me sad to see what album we have now SMH.

I'm not gonna say which is better, but for anyone to say it's not debatable is ridiculous. RD was not considered a classic until Jay-Z lobbied that shyt into classic stuatus on some politics shyt. It was always a ver good album, but never classic. Same with DOD. Difference is Jay came way up and constantly whined(for lack of a better word) about people not callin RD classic until people started to comply and agree. AZ didn't blow up and never cried about how DOD was received or remembered.

mrsixmics
08-07-07, 02:04 PM
^what? reasonable doubt was generally considered a classic long before jay started whining. he was basically whining to the media.

doe or die is generally considered a classic too.

It's not a good comparison to me.Doe or die need to be compared to illmatic. Doe or die is the last album that sound anything like illmatic....az was what 20 yrs old when he made this album.....amazing how him and nas are so wise beyond their years.

mrsixmics
08-09-07, 07:30 PM
^yes indeed.

but then again, alot of the guys droppin classics and knowledge were around that age and younger back then like bone &^ mobb deep but yea, they were still above them dudes in knowledge. its crazy.

nowadays, if youre 20 and actually drop an album, you can use it as a gimmick like "im young".

RochesterSS

Exactly. RD didn't even stand out from the pack in 96' and was among the many good albums that year. I think Hell on Earth by the Mobb shat on both albums combined. RD didn't become a 'classic' until Jay blew after that and people caught wind of his first album because, like most of these internet geeks in here, they were mad late.

But RD >>>Doe or Die

Doe or Die is classic, but it aint better than RD .....you n*ggas must have that hate running in your blood for Jay if you think Doe or Die is better than Reasonable Doubt.

Going track by track comparing the most similar songs we'll see who wins out.

Uncut Raw = Brooklyn's Finest (1-1)
Gimme Yours >>>> Cant Knock The Hustle (2-1)
Hoe Happy Jackie <<<<< Aint No N*gga (2-2)
Rather Unique = 22 Two's (3-3)
I Feel For You <<<< Politics as Usual (3-4)
Sugar Hill <<< Feelin It (3-5)
MMMMMH >>> Coming of Age (4-5)
Doe or Die <<<Dead Presidents (4-6)
Your World Dont Stop <<< Can I Live (4-7)
Sugar Hill Remix <<<Cashmere Thoughts (4-8)

AZ loses 4-8 to Jay.

And thats not even all the tracks off RD ...you still got gems such as D'Evils, Friend or Foe, Bring It On, Regrets and Can I Live part 2

Clean all that wax out your ears, n*ggas is so determined to take credit away from Jay, you look ignorant in the process while doing it.

RD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Doe or Die
