Now, in my humble opinion, this band can be devided into two distinct eras. The first era is the psychedelic tinged blues/jazz/rock/avant-garde period. The second era is the return to roots, mainly blues, though still mantaining a psychedelic and jazzy edge.
My question to you fine people is, which Door's era do you prefer? Which album best exemplifies your preference, and why?
From a personal standpoint, I used to prefer the bluesy Doors of L.A. Woman and Morrison Hotel. Now, I am beginning to appreciate (and prefer) the "crazy" Doors, particularly their self-titled album.

"Show me, the way, to the next whiskey bar......I tell you we must go......"
"Got the world locked up inside a plastic box.....'cause she's a twentieth century fox!!!!"
"Before you slipped into unconsciousness, something something another kiss"
"Light My Fire" is a classic song.
I'm not all that familiar with them, but like you I'm bumping the self-titled debut a lot and kinda liking it.

You get an appreciation for both styles honestly when you listen to their work. I honestly like the psychedelic grooves, it sounds so strange and new. That whole era of rock is great.
