start off low and work your way up slowly.
squats is one of those exercises where you need perfect form. check out some youtube videos for tips. try to go at least parallel without fukkin up your form.
you'll see the numbers on your other lifts go up just cause squats release more testosterone then any other single exercise (biggest muscles in your body are in your legs)

Yea the testosterone release is why I started fukking with them, everyone says they added like 10-20# to all their other routines.

the king of all exercises is deadlifts.. deadlifts actually release more hormones than squats.
i hate squats, squats is wack, the bar hurts my traps

deadlifts are SERIOUS the first time.. i was aching, the pump was SERIOUS.. i wouldnt even finish my first set with 135.
and the soreness the next morning is CRAZY.. couldnt bend over (no homo) for like 5 days..
but as you do it more and more, you dont get as much of an ache.
and u progress in weight quikly.. i started at 135..couldnt even finish a set of 8..only could do 4..
now bout 6weeks later im doin 4x6-8 of 235, 245

if you really wanna get your deadlifts and squats up, dont go for reps, do the 10 set 2 reps, and keep adding weight till u can only do one.. i did this and my deadlift and squat went up 100lb+ but thats max, ur body gotta get used to the weight, but dont b stupid though cause u can cause serioussssss injury soo make sure ur form is 100% correct and have another person with you
i weight 191 and i can dead lift 425 twice and i can squat 375+ a few times i havent maxed squat in a minute. but heres the thing.. im only 5'7 LMAO for u tall cats ive noticed its harder

HELL YEAHHHHH lol dont let the reps fool u its 10 SETS, look up on power lifting routines(Cleans/deadlifts) and than after your done with that stage go get cut the fuk up, but if you want size power lifting is the way to go, if your looking to get all cut up dont bother
also if your talking about size you gotta eat enough carbs and protein to actually build/repair the muscles.. too much to get into, ive been lifting for 2 years and each day i learn something new so just read as much as you can for the faults you feel you have

Cleans>Benching>Squats.
Truth. Power cleans are about my favorite thing to do. Haven't done em' in about 2 years tho.
Your Traps and Shoulders have to be on point if you want to start squatting heavier weight. The pad is good for lower weight, once you get up to 300+ it can throw the bar off balance and make the lift harder. Also avoid that stupid Manta Ray sh*t. I used it once when I was maxing and it cut a big ass circle around my Traps, had a n*gga bleeding all over the gym.
I honestly prefer doing Deadlifts and Cleans, but I'll throw in the occasional Squat from time to time. I feel a better pump when I do deadlifts but I suppose its because of the height situation. At my height going too low on Squats puts too much stress on my knees; Deadlifts have been more kind to my frame over the years.

I know huh...Squats and deadlifts are the ****.
Right now I can only squat 330 I am trying to get to 350 by the end of the summer. The more I can squat they higher I can jump and the more explosive I will be.
The deadlifts had me shook and scared as **** the first time I did them. After my first workout with the deadlifts I went home and my back was killing me(I could barely move). I thought I ****ed it up on some next excercise or something lol
Imo
1.Squats
2.Deadlifts

I did deadlifts yesterday. My whole shyt is fukked up, I think it helped my posture though. Tomorrow I do shoulders/traps
I got a question though. For big exercises (bench/squat/deadlift) how many reps should I be doing on my last set? Like 2? I get the feeling I'm not doing enough weight on my last sets, cause I go something like 8-8-6-6-4 while increasing the weight progressively. LMK

Why so many sets? Thats over-doing it for major lifts like Deads and Squats.

So what's a good number of sets, and how many reps should I be able to do for major exercises if I'm looking to gain mass?

3-4 is usually enough, for mass I'd go with 12 reps per set. You can stick to your pyramid scheme though and do something like 12,10,8,6 with heavier weight. Each week go up by 2.5 or 5lbs., this progressive training builds strength and adds muscle in no time.

its better to go with 6-8 reps.. wen u go as high as 12, youre not really gaining any strength, thats a strictly hypertrophy (mass) rep range..
id rather gain strength and size, then strictly size

i remember my first time doing deads.. i couldnt even finish my FIRST set of 135.. i could only pump out 4 reps..
my back was KILLING me, the pump was insane.
i only did 2 sets of 4-5 reps that day, cus my back was killing me soo much.
i was sore for like 4 days, WHOLE back was KILLING me, couldnt bend over or nothing.
but deads is the truth. 6 weeks later im now deadlifting 265 for 6 reps, and my back is looking like 2 big ass porkchops.
got my back thick as hell:king:
i heard cleans is not really a mass exercise, its jus to build explosive strength. but im about to start doing it so i can show off in the gym.

yea 4-6 is more optimal for strength..
but 6-8 gives the perfect balance between strength and size, which is what you should strive for IMO.
being big but weak is stupid IMO. i like strength to be able to back up my size.
Thats good if YOU like it, I was simply answering his question. Different strokes for different folks; some want to look big while others seek strength.

I don't wanna get HUGE... but it's pointless to go to the gym and not push yourself.
In college it took me like a YEAR to add 10# to my bench.... but I wasn't doing legs AT ALL, etc. I'm doing it right this time, from the diet to the full body work out, and I'm gonna see what happens. I might even start a log here.

At 5'5 145 looks huge, 135 looks is lean with definition (just peep WEC's 135 division). Since I play NCAA soccer it's tough putting on more then that. SMH at yall feelings getting hurt cuz I'm half your size and squat as much or more then you.

you've got some impressive strength for your size...but dont get it twisted you have no real muscle mass. you're just small and lean. which is what you want though since you play competitive soccer.
theres a reason you never see any yolked up soccer players. its an aerobic sport where size is a disadvantage. plus, its extremely difficult to put on muscle mass when you're running miles and miles every day.

Oh no doubt, it's not so much mass as it is definition and my upper body is well behind my legs (rep 155 only maxed out 190), but that's necessary for the sport. I'm actually about to hit a supplement stack to put on 10 lbs. over the next two months and play more like a bruiser. I got a month without the running, so that's my only shot.
lol @ that zebra ****, yall have no idea...if it wasn't for scholarships, I'd quit that **** in a second.
