anyone else up on this yet? I had previously used apple cider vingear as a hair rinse to get rid of buildup, but I've recently been reading up on all of it's benefits & have decided to start taking it internally...
so far, I am taking 2 tablespoons of it mixed with a lil bit of water twice a day before meals. just a word of forewarning...it is very strong & will probably make you gag at first. the key I've found is just to drink it like a shot & rinse it down with some fruit juice. it is really supposed to be beneficial to people with oily skin when taken internally & used as a toner (dilluted with water). I've yet to try it as a toner yet, but will within the next week or two.
I'm using braggs unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar, which is said to be the best.
some reported benefits:
INTERNAL BENEFITS:
* Rich in enzymes & potassium
* Naturally support a healthy immune system
* Helps control weight
* Promotes digestion & ph Balance
* Helps soothe dry throats
* Helps remove body sludge toxins
EXTERNAL BENEFITS:
* Helps maintain healthy skin
* Helps promote youthful, healthy bodies
* Soothes irritated skin
* Relieves muscle pain from exercise

why do ppl toruture themselves by mixing it with water.. why not just have a salad with your meals and put it on the salad?
whenever anyone talks about it they say they drink it by itself.. or with water.. does it have to be taken that way? am i missing something?
i have been using it for a while too off and on.. it flattens your stomach
i don't straight up drink it tho. that's nasty..
i put it on my salads.

apple cider vinegar on salads? not for me, I usually just put plain oil on mine.
I don't think you'd even get the amount you're supposed to just from a salad topping (4 tablespoons per day). if some people prefer to take it that way tho, that's ok...I would just rather take a shot & be done with it.
retta what can I say...after fukking with the salt water drink during the master cleanse last summer I feel like I can pretty much swallow anything at this point...pause

there was a thread a few years back in TLR that exposed me to ACV, so I've tried it here and there, but not yet on my hair, does that work?
I actually like to drink it, I have a glass of water with a cap-full or two when I get home from work and sometimes after dinner. Its refreshing, makes my stomach feel good and helps kill the post-work food cravings that I get before dinner.
tho my skin is not too oily, I also really like ACV as a facial cleanser/toner--there are various recipes for this on makeupalley.com--but only if I'm planning to chill by myself for a minute b/c it smells like feet, for real. My boy HATES it lol and I never wear it to bed, but I like how it makes my skin feel & look.

First the oil and now this. I bet your tastebuds are all confused.
:laugh: i usually use ACV for stomach issues...I had no idea you could use it externally though...im gonna have to give this a try :yes:

I've just used it for my hair but never taken it. Does it really cut cravings?
Books, got any info on anti-oxidant teas and brands?

incorporated ACV into my diet for a while now. I used to get these wild muscle contractions post-workout and it all stopped after I started taking it. don't think I passed gas since too

You hip to Vegenaise? Its like the tree huggers answer to mayo. made up of mostly apple cider vinegar with a little grapeseed oil, filtered water, brown rice syrup, soy protein, sea salt, mustard extract and lemon concentrat to go with it. tastes great

it works great on hair...I use alot of product (especially during humid weather), so it's perfect to help get all the buildup out.
but wait a minute....you said you actually like to drink it???
I can honestly say it's one of the nastiest things I've ever tasted...thank god it's just a quick shot & it's done with.
word to makeupalley...I always go there to look up something real quick & then wind up spending way too much time scrolling thru those reviews! I did wind up pulling a recipe for toner from there...1 part ACV, 2 parts brewed green tea. The green tea apparently does something to help neutralize the smell. I used it twice & really like it so far. It seems perfect for oily skin. I think it'd def be way too harsh for normal/dry skin types. I was shocked to see some girls on MUA are using non-diluted ACV on their face.

anita, I haven't really paid attention to the cravings thing. I usually just eat the same stuff everyday, so it's hard to say...
teas I drink regularly:
yogi tea-super antioxidant green tea
celestial seasonings-blueberry breeze green tea
salada- purple antioxidants green tea/red antioxidants green tea (both decaf)

nah I've tried that before...I really don't like mayo all that much so I've never looked for any healthy alternatives. that def sounds like an interesting combo of ingredients...
so......for people who have been using ACV for awhile, what results have you noticed? I'm also curious to hear how you are taking it...straight shot, mixed in with water/fruit juice...
this website has a bunch of info on ACV...haven't read thru all of it yet

LoL yes, yes I do... no shots tho, a cap-full or two in 12 oz. of water I find invigorating. When I'm lazy, I do use it undiluted on my face too... stinks to hell... it hasnt been too harsh, but I like the green tea dilution since it doesnt make my eyes sting lol. I tried to mask the smell with some essential oils once, but that was like a stink person putting on deodorant, an ineffective cover-up.
Nita, re: cravings, it's not like a serious appetite supressant, but I find that when I am craving food by habit (like I'm bored or w/e) or craving something unhealthy, a glass helps kill that until my mind moves on

ay that looks good... I'm sure apple balsamic tastes better than plain ACV.... looks like you drowned the salad tho
no one mentioned the best part of Dr Braggs ACV on this thread.... the fact that it has "the mother" in it hahah :cool:

That sh!t is too acidic and can damage your tooth enamel. You are 'posed to dilute 1 tbl for every 6 oz or so and drink it with a straw. It tastes just like apple juice this way. I drink it just for taste sometimes.
Also, Braggs Liquid Aminos are better for salads, amongst other things.

there was something on the site books posted about tooth enamel http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/acvinegar.html#dental
basically ppl in the comments say if you drink it fast (vs sip all day) you should be okay. Diluting & rinsing after would also be a good idea I guess, based on that info.

i'm unsure about what type/brand of ACV to use. i mean, i have a bottle of the stuff in my pantry that i've used for cooking.. the kind you buy right there in the salad dressings aisle, next to the rice vinegar, white wine vinegar, and all the other vinegars @ the grocer.. but i'm assuming that's not the kind you're supposed to drink?

get bragg's organic with 'the mother'...any gnc or health food store should have it. if not that just get another organic brand...not the heinz kind you'd find in a reg supermarket.
I'm on my 3rd week of drinking it now...it has really helped with my sinuses & that's not even why I started using it to begin with. I'm drinking it now diluted with water & then rinsing right after. I also tried drinking it with a straw a couple times..I prefer the quick shot method tho.

i've been taking bragg's for a few weeks now. doing a couple tblspoons before each meal, or at least twice a day.
i'm wondering if this sh1t is bad for my stomach lining due to the acidity. i realize how it could be harmful to your tooth enamel and all that, but sometimes (esp in the morning on a super empty stomach) when it goes down, i feel like it's sitting there in my stomach burning a hole.. not 'cause it hurts at all, just b/c.. *shudders*.. it's potent.

a month ago i was having really bad heartburn and started taking it with baking soda
then.... a few weeks ago when i burned my arm (being domestic...) i put acv on the burn and it didn't blister at all

i don't think so.... it works for acid reflux/heartburn... do you dilute it? maybe try taking it with food
you can mix baking soda to make it less acidic (http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/acv_baking_soda_cures.html) (this will also help protect your tooth enamel)

Man, just take fish oil, does the same stuff and probably cheaper.
EDIT, I take this comment back ^^^. both are good to take.
