people have been arguing about this ever since he did this song. People couldn't even comprehend the techniques he used on this song because of the time there was nothing like it, and even today it cannot be replicated. This song inspired a generation. Jimmy Hendrix is the greatest guitarist of all time.

alot of ppl argue that there are guitarists out now who can rival Jimi. There might be a few, but I havent heard them. But even if there is, something has to be said for the fact that he did this stuff 40-50 years ago, never had a lesson.
