Between 97 - 01 nas was wack, jay-z has never been wack.
Then jay-z has more certified classics, puts out less wack material.
Nas has got like 4 3.5 mic albums, jay = none, i mean nas lyrics are always 5 mic, but often his subject of matter, beats and flow brings it down to a 3.5 or 4. Like I am, Nastradamous, QB's finest, the firm, streets diciple and hip hop is dead. Alot of mediocre ****, but nas at his finest moments, is the finest emcee.

anything nas put out aside from his nastradamus days kills anything jay-z dropped

in my lifetime vol. 1, hard knock life, volume 3 - all had only a few good cuts and the rest were average

i am - way better songs on that than any of those jay albums
