Okay, so I work out five days a week, I always start with weight training and end with cardio. It usually takes me about 55 minutes to finish the weight training part (I do one muscle group per day, back and biceps together, abs and legs together) and then I finish with an hour of cardio. Here is my question: Since you are supposed to refuel with carbs and protein after you train with weights, should I immediately consume a shake and a sports drink, or wait until I am done with cardio? The reason I ask this, supposedly if you don't get any carbs then your body will feed off of muscle. Also, I don't want to hit cardio first because I've read that you gain more muscle mass if you hit the weights first, then go with cardio. What should I do?

The only time I would recommend cardio following weights is when your cutting or dieting. If your trying to gain muscle or simply maintain, its better to get that protein and carbs in your system as soon as possible following a lifting session. Simply put, cardio following weights is not the best option.

I prefer doing cardio on my off-days when I don't lift, I work a M-W-F routine with cardio on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

You may have to change your routine up a lil bit to get Cardio on off-days. Also, if time permits it I would look into making two trips to the gym; cardio in the morning and weights in the evening or whatever works best for your schedule.

Now I'm off Uni my workout is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday are weights with 10 minutes on the treadmill before and after weights. Playing football (soccer ) on Sundays is enough Cardio for me. :D
