Lee believed that the abdominal muscles were one of the most important muscle groups for a martial artist, since virtually every movement requires some degree of abdominal work. Perhaps more importantly, the "abs" are like a shell, protecting the ribs and vital organs.

He trained from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., including stomach, flexibility, and running, and from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. he would weight train and cycle. A typical exercise for Lee would be to run a distance of two to six miles in 15 to 45 minutes, in which he would vary speed in 3-5 minute intervals. Lee would then ride his stationary bicycle for 30-45 minutes at full speed immediately after running. Next, Lee would do some skipping rope for 800 jumps non-stop.

Bruce Lee wasn't no Joke as an Athlete. I think that fact that he was 25% white helped him outshine the other Asians in his movies athletically. Thats why they could never find a good replacement for him when he died.

He was in perfect shape...but his Martial Arts were suspect. Alot of wasted movement. His idea of making the arts he learned more practical was an inspiration to others to perfect his ideas. If he lived longer Jeet Kune Do(sp) would be an art used in MMA. He was on the right path but just didnt have time to finish

I also read that in Bruce's routine, he would run a few miles forward, then turn around and run a few miles backwards...

And detroit, he was that fast. Thats why his art was called "The Way Of The Intercepting Fist" or something. Basically, it was to strike befotre you get struck. He said there were alot of ways to tell when a person was about to strike you.

Cinemax showed a documentary recently, sh*t was crazy how fast he was. What was even crazier was how strong he was. Hundreds to Thousands of kicks/punches were also involved in his daily routine.

Just like he mentioned that the Abs were the most important part(Dan Tian), the key to avoiding being hit in a face to face confrontation is to watch the Soloplex. kicks, punches, head butts, can all be spotted by watching that location. If you stare into someones eys you will be a fool with a mashed kneecap or damaged nuts. Word

And I was impressed when Ray Lewis said he did 500 sit-ups a day when he was in jail. This makes him seem like a lazy bastard.

Yeah. His Mother was Half German. Thats why none of his replacements like Bruce Li, Bruce Le, or Dragon Lee ever resembled him physically. The guy was unique.
