Rolling Stones are definitley ****ing with their influence.

Don't really know Nirvana's music well (I'm not much of a fan of heavy rock), but I wouldn't laugh at the claim they were in the top ten or twenty because of how much impact their music had.

Is that Dexter Gordon in your avi?

I only got a couple of songs from him. You got any recommendations?

(Nirvana's alright in my book, but I don't know about top 10.)

they're easily in my top 3..they used to be my favorite for a long time..

and are definitely top 10 just off the strength of ushering in the inde/alternative scene of the 90s w/ high quality music.

What people don't understand is that nobody could've done what Nirvana did, when they did it. Pearl Jam's record came out before Nevermind, but didn't sell any copies until Nevermind blew up. Neither did Jane's Addiction, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, The Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, or any of the other bands of that generation.

If it wasn't for Nirvana, Poison would still be on the top of the charts, so would Motley Crue, and Whitesnake. People don't even understand that.

The Stones, Beatles, Led Zepplin, and Guns N Roses all benefitted from ruling in a time that rock music ruled the roost, and talent still mattered, so being a good band was half the battle. Nirvana had to battle hip-hop, pop music like Mariah Carey & Color Me Badd, hair metal bands, and put out the defining album of the fall of '91, despite classic records from U2, Metallica, Guns-N-Roses, Michael Jackson, and Pearl Jam that all came out within months of each other. That would never happen today.

Nirvana definite Hall of Fame band.

personally i think nirvana gets too much credit just because kurt cobain offed himself. i also think alice in chains was (or is) much better than nirvana.
