Who else listens to 'em?
De-loused is still my favorite album, but Frances is realllly close and coming even closer now that i've lost my De-loused CD for the car. Didn't really like Amputechture that much, but it had it's moments. I'm really looking forward to the next album since they're getting back to the whole concept album thing.

I fukks with em. De-Loused is classic, they really need Rick Rubin producing their albums, he trims the fat. Frances had too much pointless ambience and Amputechture was just...too much everything. I mean I'm a P-funk nicca I can handle 10 minute tracks but damn son! too much lol

I bought it, played it once or twice and haven't listened to it since. They are still my favorite band. I need to see them live.

I liked all three, and Frances is prolly my favorite. De-Loused is pretty close though. Amp was cool IMO, I can listen to it straight through no prob. Apparently, album number four is going to feature shorter songs (all put together, Cassandra Geminni is like a half hour long, lol) but I haven't heard any of it yet. I know there's a song or two floating around but I'm waiting till the whole thing links (for the OMG downloading! crowd I did buy the others)

wait, what? where? all i know of is the "Se Dice" album and "El Bufalo De La Noche", and neither are from the 4th LP. Are you sure you're not getting those confused?

I think the song titles were "Idle Tooth" and "Rapid Fire Tollbooth." I haven't been on the Comatorium board in a hot minute so I'm prolly mixing it up with some older unreleased stuff.

new album announced: the bedlam in goliath
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_mars_volta#The_Bedlam_in_Goliath
After shows in New Zealand and Australia, The Mars Volta toured a few West Coast venues as the headliner, then entered the studio to record the fourth LP entitled The Bedlam in Goliath, which is scheduled for a fall release according to Digital Producer magazine. In a recent interview with "Time Off" magazine, Bixler-Zavala stated that the next album would be a concept album: "I don’t want to give the plot away right now, but the new one has to do with this gift that Omar found for me when he went traveling once. The gift came with a story that was attached to it, and we’re trying to re-interpret the story again."

This fall? Didnt they just release an album last summer? Fukk it, I'm amped as hell for some new Volta.
I've been listening to Amputechture lately, and the albums pretty dope except for the first cut, which I think is mad flat.

lol what?
i usually hate rap/rock fusion........on the real.
atd, the only good song on that joint, imo.........was;
one armed scissor
the rest was completely dismissable but off the strength of;
one armed scissor it made me give them a chance like;
deftones
to see if they could make some better music. they did, with rick rubin and the rest is history.

ATDI wasn't a rap/rock fusion band...at all. They were a punk/emo band, far from nu-metal sh1t like the Deftones. Furthermore, while "One Armed Scissor" remains as their most accessible and popular song, it is (IMO) not their best...not even close, really. I like ATDI but the Mars Volta are far more original, progressive, and they are much better musicians.

shyt, there's Relationship of Command b-sides I liked more (Catacombs)
great album though...
as for Mars Volta, it was crazy when the unmixed shyt was out, and they seemed like they'd be worse than Sparta...then De-Loused comes out, and it's a a modern day rock masterpiece imho.

Besides Relationship in Command, I think anything associated with Mars Volta and ATDI is sort of wack.
Vaya was also cool.
I've only heard Deloused from mars Volta. But like i said, after hearing Relationship first, I don't wanna hear anything from Mars anymore.

A quick note:
the songs I mentioned on the last page (Rapid Fire Tollbooth and Idle Tooth) are in fact looking like they're going to be on the next album. They're playing live versions of RFT that are like 12-13 minutes long and have extra lyrics. that song's been a feature of their live shows post-Amp. Idle Tooth is about 5 minutes long live, but who knows what it'll look like by the time the album's released.
btw i don't think i care to see them live, cedric's voice is out of control. i can take it on albums but it's much worse live

Rapid Fire Tollbooth is on Omar's new solo album, I don't think it'll be on the next TMV album.

07-03-07, 07:56 PM
^^^i know, but there's a much different version being played at new TMV shows. they generally don't play his solo stuff at shows, i think
Please Heat This Eventually was on another album too, and it was more than twice as long as on Omar's album
