When 50 retires from music, do you think he will be remembered as a Great? Do you think his music and business moves classify him as legend status? Hate him or love him, he gets the world talking and his music has been relavant for a couple years now.
Will 50 go down as a legend

just check the hit catalogue, the records that tied Beatles records. The amount of people checking for his material, how big the brand expanded.
Elaborate on how his music is relevant and NO, 50 is nowhere near legend status.

MC Hammer and Vanilla ice did that **** before they pissed it away. 50's buisiness moves will be remembered, his music though, I don't know

50 has to go away first to be alegend. At the moment he's just an over hyped shiit talker and no he's not a great businessman either, neither is jay-z.
lol @ n*ggas comparing 50's success to Hammer's and Vanilla Ice's. Them n*ggas had one super duper album them one subpar album then they faded away. 50 did 12 mill first time, then 9.8 second time, and in the process he established a brand, G-Unit, with Banks selling almost 3 million, Buck selling almost 2 million, Game selling almost 4 million, Beg For Mercy selling 3 million, Get Rich or Die Tryin soundtrack sellin 1.5, etc... not to mention the 1290129012 mixtapes that we all had and loved that he dropped during that time period. from 2003 til now the dude has been raping the industry at a pace that no one has ever seen before. if there was a straight hiphop hall of fame, just off the strength of generating all of this paper and power in 3-4 years, 50 would be there without question. the fact that he is one of the best song writers in hiphop is just icing. when i heard 50 threaten puff daddy that he could "f**k his sh*t up" meaning ruin his career, just the fact that he could even say that and it sound half way believable really brought it home that this kid is a monster in the game.

Stop it. Stop it.
You need to re-evaluate things. Somebody did do what 50 did... before 50 even dropped his first album.
His name is... Nelly.
How quick people forget that Nelly sold 9.5 mil on his first album in the states ALONE, not to mention 6.7 mil on his second cd, and 4 mil on this 3rd/4th albums combined. Got a gold record out of Murphy Lee, a plat album out of the group, a plat album out of his Reinventions cd, and single-handedly put St. Louis on the map. Not to mention all the successful collabs he's done over his career (don't get me started on that).
Also, Nelly has been in a few successful movies... The Longest Yard being one of them. Not saying Nelly is the richest, b/c that's not the point. Point is, Nelly did better numbers than 50... and he's not even regarded as top 20 on hardly anybody's list. He's hardly checked for outside of the pop crowd, mainstream rap fans, and the few people that actually think he beat KRS-1 in battle. No one really remembers him for what he did outside of "Hot In Herre" and "E.I." Maybe Country Grammar. And Nelly wasn't that bad of an artist.
So what makes you think 50 is gonna be any different???

Saw 50's house on MTV cribs
Saw Nelly's house on MYV cribs
If Nelly got money, he must be a Scrooge or Execs took it all. I'm not hatin' on Nelly, but i dont think Coke is gonna buy Pimp Juice anytime soon.

damm these threads go off topic quick. bottom line is you cant be a legend in hiphop business wise. 50 doesnt have the catalogue of a legend, only memorable beats and hooks here and there, and thats where it stops.

So a person's house tells how much they make???
Nope, b/c if that's the case, Bill Gates has less money than 50.
And like I said in the post, money isn't a factor in being a legend in my example. I used record sales, amount of hits, and relevance to the game to compare 50 and Nelly b/c that's the only things some of y'all care about. It's '07. Who really is checking for Nelly? He had a strong 4-5 years (Grillz was '05). 50 blew up in '03... Can he make it through '08?
Fif is no where near a legend he's the MC hammer of this era nothing more.

You right about that, he did come from nothing...
But so did so many other fly-by-night rappers.
Hmm... Trick Daddy comes to mind... so does Ja Rule... Juvenile is a good one... ahhh, who could forget Warren G...
The list could go on.
Question: Are any of these rappers legends in the game, other than maybe Warren? Do any of these guys get considered in anybody's Top 20???
They made their 2 or 3 hot albums, then dipped out... hmmm... I wonder...

MC Hammer IS A LEGEND, and it has nothing to do with the money he made, he made that shiny suit pop sh*t and made rap blow up big, n*gga had deals with taco bell his own cartoon, he is definatly a legend, cuz he did new and groundbreaking things
50 on tha other hand didn't do sh*t, except make some money, theres a lot of millionares out there, not all of them r legends....

Well... if you wanna get technical...
Shaq did it. But that's if you want to get technical.
Realistic, 50 is getting very close to Master's P level. But... Master P is only still relevant through 2 things. His kid's TV Show and his one single every 2 years or so.
50 could do that... but I don't see that happening. P passed for a decent character on that Romeo show. I can't see 50 being on ANY TV show... except Law And Order, for some reason...

Oh I know Shaq didn't sell millions or get respect as a rapper. I'm just saying that technically he was into all those ventures: music, movies, video games, shoes, sports, books, all that.
50 is doing a movie with Cage and DeNiro. But there a few rappers that have done that level of movies with actors too.
Nelly w/ Adam Sandler, LL Cool J in all the movies he's been in, Mos Def, and Common got to be in a movie with Andy Garcia and Ray Liotta. That's huge.
But yeah, 50 is the "it" guy... but that doesn't mean he will still have roles years from now... his acting skills are already suspect after GRODT the movie...

no he's not a good actor, he sucks....and I obviously know....all these rappers have had each one of these things taht 50's doing but none of them have had all of them at one time...as in basically everythign you can imagine
If you go off his influence in the rap game, then you can consider 50 a legend. Hes becoming the new Hip Hop mogul.
