A lot of your favorite rappers endorse portishead. I agree with threadstarter.
Portishead = one of the greatest bands in ANY genre of music. Beth Gibbons has one of the best voices ive ever heard ever. the production at times >>>>>> any hip hop production. **** is deep. deeper than my grave g. im ready to die and nobodoy can save me.

if anyone here is into screw, theres no reason why you wouldnt dig portishead. also dig up some Tricky if you want to further expand your musical knowledge and taste. its a MUST for producers.

Most of them Portishead joints are samples anyway.
Dummy is their best but their Live In NYC album is crazy...they've got a whole orchestra and brass section playin' their ish.

yea i dunno some of there **** is too much happy feminist vibe for me but dummy bangs hard except one or two tracks, if any of you take psychadelic drugs i highly recomend this album

my favorite and only trip hop band i listen too. the rest are simply garbage,...and just fail at doing the same thing.
bjork is the only solo artist that accomplishes anything on par with beth gibbons in this genre, solely dominated by these two artist.
the only other group worth note, that isn't an awful remake is;

top five of all time when it comes to vibey, but not happy.

Massive Attack, Tricky and Peeping Tom can be considered Trip-Hop and they're all fantastic.
Portishead are crazy good. Their first album was all replayed sampled but for the second album they made joints that they would sample and **** up in the same way, so they were still making it sound dirty as fukk but they had more choice in what to do.
