nah, keystyling is a natural evolution of hip-hop and technology. it's just fans doing their little share.

^^^co-sign, keystylin doesn't relate to the quality of the music bein put out but if you wanna read into it I could see people thinkin that it adds a little corniness to the **** overall, when **** goes past just writing and people thinking they're gangstas online...well thats always gonna be a bad look but that type a **** has always been happening online.
In my opinion the decline of hip-hop is linked to soundscan & bootlegging, when people started seeing really big sales there started to be cases of mimicry over creativity. Catz copied the type of **** Big and Pac put out because they sold big numbers, Ja Rule & 50 played a big part of the r&b hit formula but that got bandwagoned heavy by a lot of rappers in the game, then when a southern cat gets a hit with a dumbed down track people jump on that **** and **** starts to feel recycled.
Soundscan is one of the worse things that happened to rap, one artist (not a rapper) said that they used to have it listed so that you moved up over the weeks as your sales grew and it was a positive thing but now they're going after it like movies and hoping for the huge opening weekend.
Still, i think the decline of hiphop has been overblown, there's plenty of good **** coming out this year its just that most of the mainstream albums will probably be forulaic and a little boring.

I wonder what people did before they had the ability to record?

of course not. what does 'keystyling' have to do with the quality of hip-hop that artists and labels release?

The thing about this is, the internet is still new overall.
It hasnt been around long enough to really influence hip-hop from an artist standpoint, but it will get there.
We all here now, the future will be more sohh connected if you know what I mean. The internet should have a dominant influence on everything within the next 5yrs.
By that time, bandwith speeds will be at a point where I can take a s#it, then flush the toilet w/ctrl T.
But that all depends on how much people let clowns on the internet influence them

I dont think keystylin' is that deep. Its an evolved "title" for "composition" Its nothing new either. Kats been writing rhymes down since forever now. If its on the computer or a peice of paper...its all the same.

Look @ it from this perspective.
We know ppl been writing stuff down,
But what about influence?
As in, the power of the internets influence?
Writing online is where you get replies from your writing.. you cant get that from writing a rhyme on paper.
What ppl say about your ish should ultimately change your writing style unless you just start posting the best stuff every written..... and everybody cant do it like I can, heeeeeeeeey ;)
This lets you know how good you are from a writing standpoint, colabing w/the right ppl can help you develop your own styles. This influence is direct, but its still too early to comment on if that will change hip-hop for better or worse???
I would assume it would help make it better cuz smarter minds should overshadow the retards who are killing rap w/crap. The Machine cant censor GOOD music via net.
Thats my opininon tho
