i recently started to enjoy more and more drum & bass (mostly because of outkast) and i'm looking for a specific style of DnB which would be like the following outkast songs
Andre - Spread
B.O.B
Big Boi - Ghetto Muzik
is there a specific name for that type of DnB? sorry if the question sounds ignorant as i just started to check out this genre and i want to learn more.
those are really at breaks speed. if you REALLY want to get into drum and bass, more like Hip Hop influenced drum and bass, check these guys out.
www.myspace.com/masonswarm (peep The Premise)
http://www.myspace.com/mentalsharp (hiphop/dnb)
www.myspace.com/ewun
www.myspace.com/evolintent
www.myspace.com/mumblzandswitchtechnique (listen to Gunz ILL!!!!)
www.myspace.com/spor (prolly one of the illest producers in dnb ever)
www.myspace.com/wearelifted (this is a label)
www.myspace.com/limewax (cleansed by a nightmare is dope)
those are the harders sounds of dnb that im into. theres too many subgenres to even count. you can look for Zion I also. they are actually a pretty well known underground hip hop group who is dabblin in the dnb realm as well. Look for "Elevate".

thanks for taking the time to actually post all those different styles. but i was looking more specifically for songs with beats similar to "Spread" or "B.O.B.". do you know where they actualy got that style from or if it has a specific name?
I'm checking out some of the song you posted and some of it is really interesting
yeah, thats more "Breaks" than drum and bass. its at the range in BPM's like freestyle or ghettotech. the beats outkast have used have really been original so there isnt gonna be alot like that out there.

thanks.i would have spent countless hours looking for it if it wasn't for you.
Disco D actually got famous for Ghettotech before he sold beats in hip hop. he was a real cool dude. everytime i hung out with him, he seemed to be living it up. may he RIP.
