View Full Version : Strong Abs?
I'm trying to build up my abs, and just doing sit-ups isn't working, I assume because there's no resistance. It used to be fine when i was at the gym because i just did sit ups on the decline bench. What sort of things can i do to increase resistance or just generally harder ab exercises?

Hold a weight while you're doing your sit ups.

i'm suprised no idiots have come inside saying soemthing about Body Fat or cardio....:laugh:
(inside joke, u prolly wont get it if you don't frequent fitness/bodybuilding forums often)
Basically....the abs are comprosised into more than 1 section, most people don't realize this, and that's why they don't look impressive, and never are strong enough to their full potential:
Main/Middle = 50%
Lower abs = 10%
Upper Abs =10%
Sides/Obliques =25%
Hidden=5%
Anyways, for the middle/main part of your abs, your gonna have to cop a roman chair, and do situps with a weighted plate on your chest:

For your lower abs, you want to do foward leg extensions on a bench, pretty self explantory (they mainly work the quads, so I do em on leg day)
for your upper abs, you do Pull overs

(these mainly work your chest and tris, so I do em on upper body day)
For the obliques, you do side deadlifts, aka one arm deadlifts:

(Instead of using a regular 7' barbell, i'd use a 6' bar, because it can cause alot of balance issues with a longer one....)
Now, in your abs, there are hidden muscles that you don't even know are there....
google stomach vacuums, those will work out those hidden muscles, and as a bonus, they'll cut some inches off your waist too ;)
