The first quarter is over, and 2007 is already a beast of a year.

Here are some of my favorites:
Menomena - Friend or Foe
Kaddisfly - Set Sail the Prairie
LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
!!! - Myth Takes
K-OS - Atlantis
Antibalas - Security

That list doesnt even count rap releases (Prodigy, Blu and DJ Exile, Devin the Dude, Redman), or second quarter albums I already heard (Feist).

Some of the anticipated releases havent even dropped yet, and I already got a solid top 10.

K-Os isn't a rap release?

Also, I don't know if anything you mentioned would crack my top ten at this point. Even though of the ones I've heard they're good records. It's been a nice year so far.

Um... a 2006 sidenote (sorry), that Band of Horses Everything All the Time is like... Godly in my ears for the passed two months. I'd say like... top 3 in 2006. Holy good sh*t Jesus.

Dntel - Dumb Luck
The Field - From Here We Go Sublime
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Panda Bear - Person Pitch
Patrick Wolf - Magic Position

The Shins, Maximo Park and LCD soundsystem albums are all really good too.

I'm waiting until Saturday to pick up the new Arctic Monkeys. God willing the weather is nice and sunny, I'll sit on top of my car and the beach and blast that sh!t

I can't call it on the albums of the year so far, but I think the ?uestlove remake of In My Mind might be a winner. I really dig Red Gone Wild and the new Pase Rock and Amerie singles. Afro Samurai is a great soundtrack and the Arcade Fire album is cool. I'll call it in a few months though.

"Band of Horses," wow... wtf is this garbage?

I actually agree.

I start playing other sh*t and that sh*t sounds gay as f*ck at times. True. But when i play it off the cuff it's cool... great, actually.

Anywho... it's a tough one so far for me. The Shins & LCD Soundsystem are front runners for me right now.

Does anyone have any clear winners for this half of the year yet? I'm pretty sure I do.

1. The Good, The Bad & The Queen - Incredibly good album. It's got a lot of Albarn, Simonon & Danger Mouse's style (Tony & Allen are less apparent but I'm willing to bet they'll be more involved next time) but none of them are clearly in 'control', which is a good thing for Danger Mouse as he tends to take too much control as the producer. Every song is fantastic and I'm beginning to agree with a lot of the reviewers who claim that it is kind of a 'Darklfe'. I won't say it's in any way similar to Blur, nor should it be, but that's the feeling I get from the songs. (peep The Bunting Song, Herculean)

2. The Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare - Another great Brit-rock album by younger dudes. This reminds me more of Oasis & Blur's earlier work, but it's clearly better than most of the sh!t Oasis could put out (aka the same album 4-5 times). Alex Turner's got huge amounts of talent, I see him sticking around for a while.

3. Consequence - Don't Quit Your Day Job - The 'everyman' album Rhymefest should've made. Cons has mad charisma with that style. The beats are fantastic and laid back, the songs have a point and it all fits together in the same style as Kanye's albums do. It's the kind of album I've been sitting back with a joint to. Even if I'm with friends or girls, I won't even talk while this album is playing.

That's it for now. Honourable mentions include Volta (Bjork), Young Modern (Silverchair), Strange House (The Horrors), the Kano mixtape, DJ Jazzy Jeff's album and A Weekend In The City.

I said most of the sh!t. Definitely Maybe is an absolute classic, everything from then on is an overrated rehash of the same concept with even more Beatles riffs and melodies.
