I ask this because I tried my bench with a shirt and that shyt went up a shyt load. Since you are lifting a significantly higher amount of weight is the muscle gaining potential higher?

Lifting shirts keep yours arms and upper body in a almost fixed position. It helps to stabilize power lifters arms and shoulders while they are benching. It reduces the risk of injury when attempting to lift heavy weights. For everyday workouts id probably just stick to your normal lifting techniques so your body accumulates strength and stability. most people arent using lifting shirts for everyday benching unless they are prone to pec injuries and tears.

I always wanted to try a shirt, but in the long run I'd suggest not using it as much.
What I wanted to do was 6 sets, 3 without the shirt, and 3 incredibly heavy (for me) with the shirt. I'd probably be able to rep 405 with one of those beeches
Ehhhhhhh, you them only for maxing out... other than that your just cheating yourself.

A bench shirt sort creates a rebound effect at the bottom of the lift, and also is meant to keep your arms, chest and shoulders so tight(cutting out the stabilizer muscles) that eventually it becomes easier to move heavier poundage. Hence the shirts being extremly tight, hard to get it on and of thick material. However, with bench shirts you still have to learn how to use one. You don't just wear one and expect your bench to go up. You have to learn the little details/techniques on locking at the top, coming down slow pausing and locking at the bottom, and explosive training(eg. speed bench).
There are several powerlifting bench routines designed to make ur bench go up, so just research online and try one up.
