Portugal. The Man doesn't really do it for me. Like it's interesting usually but that's it really. Hopefully they'll have a bit more direction. I don't know if there is some backstory about the record that'd help me enjoy it more.

I was bummed when Anthony left Saosin but Circa Survive is pretty good. I don't like them as much but they're still cool. Next record should be cool--im interested to see what direction they head. Did they play any new stuff?

Check out Weatherbox I think you'd like 'em. Plus they're local and I always like to push San Diego bands that aren't shiitty pop-punk.

Probably TV on the Radio. I can understand why people would say The Arcade Fire though. I don't listen to them that much, but you can't really deny the basic quality of the music. Plus, it's nice to see a band get a lot of buzz who don't just sound like a cover band (like Interpol or whoeverl.)

Technically they qualify but their album doesn't warrant them being called anything more than entertaining.

So how can you justify that whilst criticizing other, more appropriate choices?

I assumed that he was commenting on the fact that Interpol and Trail of Dead have both been around for longer then 5 years. Hell, I saw Trail of Dead almost 10 years ago.

Had a spark when they started...

They released eps in 2000 and 2001.

If you like Interpol, have you ever checked out The Chameleons? If not, you should. People say that Interpol are just a Joy Division rip-off, but they sound a lot more like a Chameleons rip-off to me.

I'd like Interpol more if they weren't so boring live. Not the most charismatic act I've ever seen....

Their music itself isn't all that exciting. I enjoy it but I wouldn't go seem them live expecting something drastically different.

That's true. I enjoy their music too, but I guess I never quite got why people liked them THAT much. I thought it might be because they were a great live band or something. But no.

No, I enjoyed their album....but they're not better than Interpol at all.

btw, Wolf Parade sound more like Modest Mouse than Interpol does the Chameleons or Joy Division.

Clem

I didn't like that Wolf Parade album very much. So, I'd agree with Profasi that Interpol is better than them.

lol @ Isaac Brock getting them signed. Producing their first album and everyone saying they sound too much like Modest Mouse.

I'd go as far as saying every single band that they share(d) members with is better than Wolf Parade. The Arcade Fire, Hot Hot Heat, Frog Eyes, Swan Lake, Sunset Rubdown, etc. There are some others that I haven't heard though.

Does anyone know what else Brock has produced?
