Finally, some specific details have been released about the new Linkin Park Album. http://lpassociation.com/
Everything is there. The site also has an exclusive interview.
I'm not sure if I should be excited or not. I loved their Hybrid Theory joint, the remix album is still very cool imo, and the second album was aight. But it's been so long, and it's almost like I don't care. I just hope it's at least 3.5/5 because I haven't heard a great mainstream rock album in years.

You mean mainstream as in 'on a major label' or mainstream as in that sound that's going to sell millions?

That one. Because it's hard to tell what's considered mainstream nowadays. I think the last albums released by Slayer and Trivium were pretty good? Those are pretty mainstream right? But they are not written to appeal to the general mainstream crowd. Maybe the trivium is.
Apparently, the Linkin Park people are changing their sound. I hope it's not too influenced by bands like Mars Volta and Acarde Fire. That's not my style. But apparently, that's what this new joint is similar too.

So I'm on this one site, and I see a post about the advance copy of LP's new shyt. I'm real skeptical and about 99 percent sure it aint the album. I d/led that shyt anywayz just to be sure ..
it's not even Linkin Park on most of the songs. LMao! It's terrible what people do to get there music out there. hahaha . The bands sounds just like them though.

I know a week or so ago a lot of "advance" copies appeared to download that were really old songs, not the new album at all.
I'm looking forward to this. Funny how "indie" outshines "mainstream" rock these days. Linkin Park are okay.

Still don't understand why people hate on LP so much...
That's why I can't f*ck with Rock...too much pretentious pseudo-intellectuals looking for sh*t in songs but giving passes to other bands because they don't sell 1 million records?
They're not the best but I think they get a lot of unnecessary hate...

c/s... I dont see why LP gets so much hate.. their not mega-popular, but they make good music to me. Maybe they do too much mixing with hip-hop, and that reminds white folks that rock itself is a Black music artform.

I've heard this reason from a lot of white kids as well as black dudes that listen to Rock.
They compare Linkin Park to Limp Bizkit and sh*t. Also complain that the songs have no meaning, or that it's too electonic...

Limp Bizkit is a joke... Fred Durst has no talent, he just had a hot wigga gimmick, but to liken him to Mike Shinoda or Chester Bennington is just crazy. Shinoda actually has lyrics.

It's funny because Linkin Park songs have lots of meaning. It's just that the group is not abstract or poetic about it. Like if they feeling disappointed and jaded they straight up say, "I try so hard, but in the end, it doesn't matter". hahaha. The lyrics come off as simple a lot of the times, but it's what makes the songs relatable (apparently this is not a word).
Yeah, but but the "advance" I heard was boring and poor recording quality. It def/. was LP. And it wasn't even their old demos, it was another group.

I heard Linkin Park goin on tour with Taking Back Sunday, Saosin and the Blead this year. I wouldn't mind seeing that.

Yeah it's their tour Projekt Revolution. I'm really disappointed because I'm used to that tour having rappers on it as well. The one I saw in 2004 or whatever had Snoop, Less Than Jake, Ghostface and Theodore Unit, Funeral for a Friend, Downset, No warning. Shyt was really good. Oh Yeah, MOP!
The first one I went to had Cypress Hills, Adema and Linkin Park. Xzibit might have been on that too.
This year's full line up is:
http://www.lpassociation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24110
It appears a few additions to the supposed potential line up for Linkin Park's Projekt Revolution tour has been revealed. According to Artisannews.com, My Chemical Romance, Saosin, Placebo, Taking Back Sunday, HIM, Mindless Self Indulgence and others will join Linkin Park on the road this summer.
Linkin Park has yet to confirm this line up, so please take this as a rumor for now.
Thanks to Shinji!

they are comparable based on the fact they both make bad music, thats the only major similarity.

Because they're not very good, yet sell very well.
It annoys fans of the genre at such bands do so well, while much better music goes unheard

Nah they pretty good. I've seen them live a few times -- they sound great and always switch up the shows. None have been similar. They make perfect albums too. The problem is that they are too good. And I'm not even being a stan here. I don't even listen to them anymore. I used to love them though.
By "too good" I mean their shows are very rehearsed, and their albums have way too much production. Some people do not like that sound in rock albums.
Also, who wants to admit liking a "rock band" that gets played on variety stations and has these fans:
http://www.decaturdaily.com/decaturdaily/teenpage/051011/park1.jpg
http://www.globaldust.com/member/images/avatars/ariel294.jpg
? That's the thing about rock. Hip Hop may have some elitist fans on the net, but with Rock, it's like that on and off the net. Shyt, I think that genre is more about image than Hip Hop is.
Also, the group has done some shady shyt in the past, it's easy for them to be picked apart by "real rock fans" ...
- Their cds are typical priced higher than other rock groups' albums.
- Apparently A and R's for the group have taken rhymes from underground rap artists and given them to Mike Shinoda (lolololo)
- Allegedly, they asked Warners Bros to get rid of another band on the label (called Dry Cell) because they felt that Dry Cell sounded too similar to LP.
- They released a remix album. And a long with that they worked with Jay-Z and other rappers. Some of these rock kids hate rap.
In an scene/genre where the word "sellout" is the ultimate dismissal of a band; Linkin Park just doesn't seem to care about that shyt, and so these fans can't even hurt the group's spirit. Same with Nelly. He clearly ripped KRS One but "Hip Hop purist" refuse to believe that.
They're over produced. That's all, it's a horrible sound.
But some people like that kind of ear cancer
I think i've grown in my hate towards Linkin Park after reading Kanekash's replies in this thread. Dude, if Shinoda asked you to clean his ass, would you do it with a cookie-jar smile on your face? You f*cking f*ggot?

Are you serious? Almost every notable scholar on music history and those who trace the roots of rock have acknowledged that Blacks built and started the foundation known as "Rock" music. Get your head out of your ass.

How?
Even though their past two albums have been so-so at best, Deftones are a fantastic band. Linkin Park arent worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as them. Plus there are almost no similarities between them, other than the fact they both make music, if you can call the crap Linkin Park spew out music that is.

i quickly looked at all the posts int his thread & notice no one has said anything about Rick Rubin producing this album. i don't listen to any rock except some old ass Body Count & that Unplugged Nirvana joint, i hate Linkin Park & liken them to Limp Bizkit. apparently Rick is taking them in a direction that is different to their normal work but it's sure to be good, name an album Rick Rubin produced that has been lackluster.
There are alot of mixed feelings about the Linken Park but I do have to say they have some dope songs Homie.
ZAZA OUT.

Aight, I hate to be an ass, but I won't go into details about how LP and Deftones are similar. Sorry, some of you (especially Skanky and yaga) are weird, and I'm not gettin into that with you.
I'm really feeling this single. I wasn't at first, but it has some interesting transitions between parts and it's not so generic. Def. has a LP sound, but it's not their style. It's cool.
Undfortunaely, there's not enough going on and it's still a mainstream rock song fdor the radio. I'll get tired of it soon.
But yo, how crazy is that Daughtry song?
IT's Not ooovvvveeeeerrrr .................
Beautiful.

Hi everyone. My name is Andrea and I'm part of the Linkin Park street team. The street team is having a contest right now to see how many unique clicks we can get on a personalized tracker link. The one with the most clicks gets a signed guitar and the top 10 runners up receive their new album titled "Minutes to Midnight" signed by the band. Their new album comes out on May 15th. I'm asking the people here to please help me out and click my tracker link below. You don't even have to like this band, just help a person out here is all I am asking. When you click the link, it may take you to an MTV Battle of the Bands page or another page. It changes. Don't worry about what page you get. It's a tracker link and it is supposed to re-direct you anyway.
Thank you for your time!

First of all, they're very popular, much more than they deserve.
Second, nobody hates them because "they do too much mixing with hip-hop" (that's just a good way to self-justify your coonery, muhaha), it's just because they are pretty weak, like Limp Bizkit. And, they're your typical Nu Metal band mixing the worst of both worlds, and "Nu Metal" is the wacker younger brother of "Crossover" (which was Nu Metal before Nu Metal, only good). I'd take the old crossover stuff like Body Count, Clawfinger and of course RATM anyday over bull**** like this.
And you know a band is overrated when somebody like Mike Shinoda is called a great MC by some people.

(1) RATM sounded the same after a while. It wasn't THAT good. People need to fall back on getting all excited about their reunion. The damn singer left because he himself said the music got boring. I think I prefer Audioslave. Still not sure.
(2) Best of Both Worlds? What does that mean? They are pop, rap, metal, mainstream rock, electronic. Sounds like a lot more than two worlds.
(3) They are well respected in the industry. How come they get some much love from Jigga man, U2, Depeche Mode, and other well respected artists? Because they are nice.
