depends on what you're trying to accomplish. general rule of thumb for weight loss\maintenence... is 1200 cals or under a day. weight gain? have no idea about that .....gotta ask one of the weight lifting dudes in here.

WTF is wrong with yall niccas. I can easily down 3000+ calories a day. You can bust a 1000 cals with one of them triple whopper meals.

Hell Nah.

I don't eat breakfast or lunch most days. I'm usually out the crib by 7am and i don't come back til usually at the earliest 3pm. I never been a breakfast person since middle school. I usually get one good(not alway a big) meal a day usually. And in the summertime(or when its hot otu), it gets worst. I eat a lot of junk food tho.

1200? 800????? those seem really low, especially 800 (for men). sounds like you may be starving yourself which is actually worse for weight loss (if thats your intention)

if your an average size guy, looking to shed a few i think the neighborhood of 2000 is about right with some sort of workout plan. and also, it should be 2000 of worthwhile food. someoen correct me if im wrong...

^^^^ 800,Thats what my doctor told me to try at least to eat a day. I told him how my daily eating habits go and he gave me one of those calorie charts and said to at least try to take in 800 and that a target caloric intake would be at least 12-15 a day. I dunno it might be how i grew up, that i'm the way i am. I'm defeinitely tryin to increase that tho and increase my weight. I've been 5'10 and between 155-160 lbs for like 5 years straight now.

i dont think youll be able to gain any mass by only consuming 800 calories a day. have you tried to eat more than 1 or that possible 2nd meal a day? believe me, i hated eating breakfast for the longest. id feel sick afterwards. but just forcing myself to eat half a banana (no homo?) or something small at first, and now i have no problem.

not sure what the best way to add weight the healthy way would be though. im sure other people would know better. goodluck with it tho

im on the opposite boat you are. after college and poor eating for years im tryin to reverse all the damage. first thing to go was the binge drinking (how i miss those days :( )

800 calories ain't sh!t...hell, my morning shake is damn near 730 calories and thats just my first of 6 meals throughout the day. i'd say eat 3000+ calories of quality foods AND workout hard if u wanna put on some mass.

Damn 6 meals a day?!?! Who the hell eats 6 meals a day? Like i said, i think i'm jsut too used to my eating habits. It started in middle school for me. I stopped eating breakfast, not entirely cuz i wanted to but becasue i didn't have time too. I was already tardy for first period at least 75% of the time. I had to be at the bus top by 7 am and i usually got up at 6:30 am or later. And then I was one of them students that didn't fukk with cafeteria food. So thats two meals a day i missed. ANd then i rarely came straight home after school. I'll usually come home late, like 9pm at the earliest. So i didn't even get a good dinner everynight. And then add to that that I don't like to cook, and my moms only cook three nights a week it seemed and one of those nights was Sunday dinner. I used to eat a lot of junk food and drank sodas and juices. i was a daily regular at the corner store. Those were my meals most days.

That started in high school tho. It wasn't intentional. I just had one big or good meal back then, surrounded by snacks. Trust me when i say it wasn't no starvation type stuff.

It probably was more than 800 tho. The chart didn't have calorie intake for doritos and snack. How much calories can get from eating dollar bag doritios and hot cheetos?

how many of those were you eating a day? those bags contain about 2 or 3 servings. so whatever caloric amount they have on the bag you can either double or triple that amount to find out how many calories you're eating.

the harris benedict formula is the most widely used tool for calculating caloric needs. the amount given is what's needed to maintain your current weight.

Oh then i was doing a little better than i thought. LOL. I'm eating a 25 cent bag of hot cheetos now(yep my first eating of the day/w a honey frost honey bun and gatorad) and on the the back the nutrition facts say calories: 150 and calories-from-fats: 90. So if i'm eating a big bag i assume that would be about 400-450 calories. NOt bad at all..

Look at the serving size

If its only 1 then it only has 150 calories, if serving size = 2 then that whole bag is 300 calories.

Way to many crabs up the protein content by 2.5 times and lower the carbs times 2-2.5
