I have to admit cats are going way overboard with that sh!t in that thread..."OH MY FUKKING GOD...do you hear the way they're flowing on that track (**various early 90's rappers spitting in the same basic early 90's east coast flow they were spitting 15 years ago**)...."I'VE BEEN PLAYiNG THIS FOR THE LAST 5 HOURS...I THINK I JUST BLACKED OUT...THIS IS THE GREATEST SONG OF THE DECADE!!!!"...calm down homies, its a cool song but damn...if I was just going by the reactions I would think Big, Pac, Big L, Freeky Tah, and Pun had all risen from the grave and spit on the track and not an assortment of variable one hit wonders and cats that were b-list rappers even then (there's a reason why Nas had to ask "Where are They Now")...kill me if I'm busting nuts in 15 years because somebody found Young Dro, Bleek and Remy Ma and put them on a track.

I'm not white...I like the song...its just not the best song of the millenium...n!ggas haven't thought about Father MC once in over a decade, and then want to pretend like he is their alltime favorite MC...and they can die a happy man now that he descended from the heavens like an angel to appear on this song...the fukk outta here...cats were overreacting and feigning excitement over the track...what, are you gonna dig through the crates that you don't have...and find the Father MC album that you don't own, and pretend to be in love with songs that you don't remember or even really give a sh!t about...there is a reason why some artists have longevity and are remembered as legends in hip hop who've made their marks on the game...and why some are forgetton about, and are remembered only as the soundtracks to memories fond...its borderline disgusting to see you cats fall all over yourselves over some b-list rappers that you don't really care about in an attempt prove how "hip hop" you are

Sorry I had an affection for Redhead Kingpin, Mike D, EST, Black Sheep and Das. Bought albums and went to shows (not EST). To hear this song w/ 0 expectation it would be made is exciting and it was a natural reaction. To assume people are being disingenious is very insulting. People who feel that remix = Hip Hop

It's not about technical brilliance or who spit what kind of flow:

THOSE CATS WERE THE BLOOD AND GUTS OF HIP HOP DURING THEIR TIME.

Dissing them is like dissing the Baby Boomers. They are your ****ing ancestors. Nas is making a statement that y'all can't understand by RESPECTING them. We (that understand this gesture) have that much respect for our forebearers. It doesn't matter what they said or what their accomplishments were.

The sad thing is that EVERYBODY spit flames and y'all dudes still hate. If you can't feel this, then what kind of aliegence can you actually claim to have for this Hip Hop movement?

Nas was arguably the GOAT before this, but after this the argument is over. He didn't have to say a word on the track.

I can dig it...but at the same time, imagine how insulting it is to have somebody tell you you're a hip hop hating white kid because your heart doesn't skip a beat because Nas put Positive K on the remix...I've said repeatedly that I like the song, and that the concept and the overall gesture was dope...but at the same time, I'm not gonna front like this is a defining moment in hip hop history or the greatest song I've ever heard...now you got muh'fukkas running around saying sh!t like "If you don't take 30 minutes out of your day to sit in a dimly lit room, light candles, and meditate to this epic remix and ponder the sacrifices made by high holy legends like Red Kingpin, and the first Spindarella that everyone forgot existed ...you're not hip hop"...its just ridiculous

Truth.

Only problem is alot of people in hip hop aint got respect for anyone or anything but the $. Because these dudes weren't selling or very well known... they're suddenly washed and NO ONE gives a shyt. GTFOH. Wasn't very many people selling AT ALL back then, the spotlight wasn't on hip hop yet.

These dudes help lay the foundation... but some of you idiot muthafukkas dont care about the culture enough to give a shyt.
