I can't believe I slept on this joint. I liked Fever To Tell and all, but I thought it was a bit overrated. This album is legit as hell though.

Fever to Tell was infinitely better than Show Your Bones.

Definitely. I thought you liked Show Your Bones better though? I may have said that. I think Show Your Bones is a good record and I listened to it more than I listened to Fever to Tell when it came out. But that's probably because it's an easier record to listen to. Fever to Tell is more abrasive and not as easily digestible as Show Your Bones.

No. Not in a million years. Never. The fact that Fever to Tell had their two best songs may overshadow the fact that every other song was unlistenable, but since Show Your Bones was far more consistent and actually had good tunes make it the better album. Plus Nick Zinner's guitar when he's actually going for tunefulness blows his wackass, jagged, pseudo-noise rock, garbage away.

Well, since you put it that way.

Honestly, and I won't put you in this category, but the only people who I've heard say that the first album is better are: 1) hipsters who will always say the last album was better for any band 2) hipsters who have no real taste of their own so they cop the general hipster attitude 3) people who think that the only song on the whole album was "Maps"

I think Fever to Tell has better songs than Show Your Bones.

Maps, Rich, Y Control, Date With the Night, Modern Romance, are ones that I remember off the top of my head.

Show Your Bones has: Phenomena, Way Out, Fancy, Honeybear, Mysteries, The Sweets, Warrior.

Hmmm--maybe Show Your Bones is the better record. I think I'm just partial to the screeching Karen-O and distorted Nick Zinnner guitars.

I loved their sound on Fever To Tell. Karen O was wild, crazy, and fun. Zinner was on some wild sh1t on the guitar. However, Show Your Bones is still wayyyyyyy better. They grew up. They don't sound like the amateur band from Fever To Tell. The songs are put together much better on Show Your Bones. Plus, every song is great, where as Fever To Tell had a few duds.

i don't get why some people can listen to one cd and not listen to another one half as much.. but call the latter better?

If you listen to it more, then it's better.

and on that note, I listen to Fever to Tell more than Show Your Bones.

I like them more than any other movies. But am I going to try and make an argument that either of 'em are better than Casablanca or whatever? Nope.

good point but we're not comparing a ****ty album to a great album... we're comparing two great albums.

That's the point. Just because I listen to something more doesn't make it better.

Show Your Bones is a whole different kind of record for me. Some can say it's a bit overproduced, but i think that's just because it's alongside Fever To Tell... which sounds more like an all out assualt.

Fever to Tell, to me, is a pure f*cking classic. I knew it when half way through Rich Karen Ohm started snarling. That b*tch is out of her mind talented. I play that album from start to finish everytime it's in my CD player. Date With the Night, Black Tongue, Man, No No No, Pin... that album's classic. Everytime i put that sh*t in my car it stays in the CD player for like a month, t6hen i go get Fever To Tell, swap them back and forth and i'm shut off to everything else in the music world for an alotted period of time.

Show Your Bones is solid. The music's good, the songwriting's great, etc. I don't know what route they wanted their 2nd album to take but to me it sounded like they wanted to solidify themselves. Karen's writing sort of proved herself to me. That track Warrior is sick, though. Phenomena, Way Out (i love driving with that song on), Sweets ("What's Your, what's your... what your criiiimmmmeee").

Damn, my kids are def. getting these CDs when they get to a good age.

They are both great albums in an era of image and overproduction. Fever To Tell covers a wide range of emotions and is just melodically excellent, and Karen O is fukking crazy. Zimmer's guitar is the ultimate complement to her insanity, almost playing as a back up singer...

Show Your Bones is more somber but equally great. I think a mistake a lot of people make with SYB is to look for the equivalents to 'Rich', 'Tick', etc. SYB is a lot more mellow. But it's still a great album. I find myself listening to SYB way more than FTT these days; it's just a mature album.

I would never debate that Maps and Modern Romance are the two best songs they have. There's no point in even discussing that. (TVOTR cover of Modern Romance is even better than YYY's version though). But every song on SYB is better than the rest of FTT, it's just how it is. Sh!t you didn't even mention Cheated Hearts which could be one of the best songs all year.

I think 'Rich' almost defines the YYYs, but the sound on SYB is nothing like 'Rich', if that makes sense. I find myself listening to SYB, even though FTT is the more 'enjoyable' album
