Basically, just want to make some hot beats. I have a solid ear for music and I have Fruity Loops 6 and Acid Pro 6. I have no idea where to begin. I tinkered around with both for hours last night. With that...I really got very little out of it. I used Acid Pro to chop a hook from this Carole King song. I loaded it into Fruity Loops but that is as far as I could get. There seems to be 4000 buttons and things on there. I will get Adobe Audition as well..but without some instruction I can't see getting really far.
I understand the basics like import a track and putting it in the front screen. But for example. When I imported the sample I could not get in to play quite like it did when it was looped in Acid Pro. Also, file types and associations. I guess I just need a serious beginners tutorial. I mean I have so many ideas about samples and beats and what sounds good...but making it work is another thing with these apps.
Any very basics tips or anything you folks could supply me with would be cool...Thanks

definitely get audition

acid and fl are both good programs to start with, but both are very different. use both to learn from... it'll help.

hit up youtube and look at some tutorials...

and then sign up at futureproducers.com and read up in their forums.

its going to take a while to make any good stuff... but its worth it.
