If skills sold truth be told we’d prolly see,
More work from the kid S. Free,
Honestly I wanna rhyme w/ Buddah M,
But he don’t respond so I won’t rhyme w/ him.

I remember when White Lines was played,
Back in days this music sound so unaque,
Sucker MC’s moved me even checked for side B,
It’s like That, now rap was fact of life like Tutti,
I remember Kane’s style, insane profane wild,
Contain the same word scheme style is used now,
Confused on views how Rakim would stand proud,
So “Analyze me surprise me” yeah pump that up loud.
From BX so KRS was ill with his words,
Brought actions to speech even nouns were like verbs,
Then I felt Pro-Black X-Clan and PE,
NWA, King Sun, Phono’s to CD’s,
Bran Nubians packed some math in their speech,
That I didn’t even realize till I was 18.
To close out the 80’s G. Rap was still Crazy,
MC Lyte, Heavy and others would still amaze me.

It’s part of my code,
Yeah you might be tired of hearing,
But this hip hop $hit is part the reason I’m living.
So I gotta give respect to the blessings it’s given,
Sit back and lemme tell you bout the 90’s transition

There was Low End Theory but the West really contained that,
Easy and Cube left, but Damn Dre came back.
There were some Black sheep and also some wack and lame acts,
But that’s existed since Hip hop began a plain fact.
Chi Ali went to my HS and I heard his tape,
And I’m like $hit I can do that so I dug in the crates,
Then I’d create the foundation of what you seeing today,
Linked w/ a crew, Natural Elements, with whom I’d relate,
I manifest, through the words that kept a pulse in my chest,
I saw Big, Akineyle and Wu at Jones Greek Fest,
I remember Live at the BBQ thinkin’ one of the best,
Was coming through my speaker deeper than I’d ever profess,
I did some shows, rocking flows Lyricst Lounge but in jest,
Cuz by 94 I went away to College and left.
My aspirations behind not the love that I had,
In 80 I fell in love by 90 I married this betch.

It’s part of my code,
Yeah you might be tired of hearing,
But this hip hop $hit is part the reason I’m living.
So I gotta give respect to the blessings it’s given,
Sit back and lemme tell you bout the current transition

By the time I graduated, Hip hop really changed,
It went from grungy, to poppy to flossing and chains,
I went from teen-age to 20’s maturing the same,
I got a property, Masters, a new life to maintain.
And I was 23 then I came to a site name SOHH,
Starting writing again, getting back the feeling I know,
Rusty at first Truelyrics was a bit archaic,
I’d post, get one response like damn the game changed quick,
I realized I still had it changed my name to W.I.Z.E.,
Got more properties, a kid man that changed my life.
Then ‘Nite had a death, some of the site lost their breath, (Eric Ervin)
AVK had a kid, and others just upped and left. (sup Timevirus, ESNC and Listen)
Hip hop is like my wife, my kid look at the growth,
You love it, but hate it but hard to debate it,
And that’s because it’s an entity you can’t control
A parallel paradigm poetic…do you get it…
If not forget it…no really just forget it.

But this hip hop $hit is part the reason I’m living.
So I gotta give respect to the blessings it’s given,
Just a quick story I had to unleash from my system

I liked your hook and how the content of the three verses went progressing on a time line. The flow in the first section was kind of choppy but even if u didnt kno it it mighta been fitting considering u were in the 80's (haha). But it picked up.
Your strongest device here was the referencing. This was packed with history and bridging it with some sohh history is what its about, so thats whats up.
The weak thing is that this concept has been flipped over and over so its not so advantageous on the origionality side. But there were elements here that braught it straight to an analytical root.. like when u talk about low end theory but then draw it to the style of the west. That is something not everyone who enjoys tribe realizes. So in that sense this is stronger than other collague pieces cause it teaches.

I always enjoy a read laced with hip-hop nostalgia so this was easy to vibe with. Though some of the SOHH lines were before me but the hip hop shyt was done well. I liked the progressing narration and although the concept was done before it doesn't make a difference if its done whack, so yea...

You carried the flow well for the most part, it was an easy read and you got the topic off well. VERY minimal filler, maybe a line or two, and thats debateable. As I said before, I cant offer to much contructive feedback to catz that have been doin this longa than me but I can comment on what I like...I felt the flow, it was def. a little different then what you dropped most the time and I liked the on point topic that was descriptive from line one to the closer. Also, the SOHH references personalized it to those at the site so that bumps it as well

Its all good and well to rock this kinda concept and make references to SOHH, but if you drop the ball its still gonna be whack. That wasnt the case here, just making the point for a reason that now eludes me...so yea

Yea...I wanna flow like S.Free too sometimes

your first verse set the tone, you're remembering the golden age, and although I'm a few years your junior, i remember much of it, good stuff...very 80's

the hook was strong, and i can imagine you spitting it, this was a song, not just a verse, but a whole song, i liked that you came to the table with it

To this day, I am thankful to all those who gave me words of encouragement and words of condolences when I was facing the hardest time of my life...I'm even thankful to those who hated on me at the time because it made me stronger and more willing to fight for mine...

And Scribs will always be remembered and missed in the Open Mic

and lol....whatever happened to ESNC, Timevirus...Listen is in the coliseum, but he left us too, along with some others

newayz...strong work here WIZE, brought back memories, good and bad...gumby fades and all that, lol

<><><><> because it was a total package deal, creative, complete, and heart felt...it isn't original, but very few ideas are, you took a template, and made it your own

Feeling the chorus, and the fact that:

By the time I graduated, Hip hop really changed,
It went from grungy, to poppy to flossing and chains,

...just has that nostalgic sound in the flow. There were more parts like that, just came off stronger here to me. And LOL @ W.I.Z.E. getting teary eyed after he wrote this. Hahaha. "Damn, yo... " I'm f*cking around.

I'm two seonds away from going to Circa and being like, "What did you guys think of Natural Elements?" Haha, get you some groupies. Can't really say much about this piece, the flows there, the content speaks for itself, etc. It's dope. But what the f*ck did you do in college? Did you go to some place in West Bumblef*ck where no one was hip-hop? College radio is the place to be when you're looking for sh*t, you know?

Half a star off for being a nerd in college.

I liked how you kinda built up to the rhyme scheme of things. The first little section about Buddah. Yeah...You seemed kinda sappish. Like maybe you shed a tear cuz he wouldnt rhyme with you. lol...j/p
Yo...Chi Ali went to your school??? Thats tight.

I mean, what else can i say besides...those were the days. I like this peice because its has a positive vibe to it. Also every body on this site could add a little something to it. And thats what hiphop is all about...fellowship of ideas and expression.

Only thing I would change is the trans. from verse to chorus and back...thought it could have been a little smoother. Other than that, it was nice seeing my name in here.

By the way...Unaque isnt a word....And the "A" is noooooo where near the "I" on the keyboard. So no excuse! lol...Im f!ckin with ya.

if this was done in audio then it would get a five most definelty..but seeing hows its not audio i cant gie u that perfect score...

flow was on, even when it didn't have me blown out of my seat it was still giving life to this piece

content was great, i love reading and hearing pieces like this, and the hook just added creativity to it

the only thing i didnt like was at some points it seems like you were reaching for the rhymes to happen, like they were forced...now this could be that im reading it wrong, which goes back to my earlier statement, if this was in audio it would be gettin a perfect score
