Q-Tip is not even one third of the MC that POS (De La Soul) was. But Q-Tip mostly benefitted from women loving him or what we call the "sex appeal" factor. You know how females tend to do: Even if you wack, as long as you appeal to them they'll put you in their top 10.

Anyway i'm a Tribe fan myself (got every album) but i dont think they were as good and creative as Outkast.
For the most part i hate southern rap (mostly the current ones) but Outkast had a much bigger impact on hiphop than Tribe in the sence that noone before them came even close to sounding like them. Tribe will always be compared to De La Soul and Jungle Brother and the "Hippy rap" groups as they used to refer to them back in those days. Their first album was a very good albu8m (especially for a debut) but its no classic. CLASSIC=Stands the test of time. In no way does that album come close (to me). The 2 that followed ( LET & MM) on the other hand were straight classic bangers.

To this day De La Soul is still my favorite group of all time and Tribe is one of my favorites too but i gotta give respect where it is due. Outkas>>Tribe

ALOT of the music coming out of the south right now is garbage, but Outkast is probably the most consistent group in ALL music....I think they just outgrew casual music fans though.

Who says that Q-Tip was a lyrical breath of fresh air? HipHop aint always about lyrics anyways, its about good music. Why do you think 2pac keeps getting mentioned as a great? Every Tribe album is a 4/5 at least. They would've kept going if Q-Tip's basement didn't get destroyed.
