Radiohead...all just a matter of opinion, but none of their songs really blow me away except maybe High and Dry

I love "High and Dry"...."The Bends" is dope, but "OK Computer"......massively overrated album.

funny that radiohead hate high and dry. i read an interview where thom yorke makes fun of the song and says the label basically made them put it on the bends.
one of my favorite bands, but they are overrated due to the snowballing effect of hype
but keeping the thread going:
sufjan- i like him but everything he does is not "beautiful and epic" like many critics will have you beleive. he also seems to have a formula with his songwriting

Nirvana own this shiit.
I would say U2 and Coldplay but the more I think about it I realise they do suck.
I know people have their own opinions and all that sh!t, but saying Radiohead is overrated is just wrong. I know they're jocked hard by the indie/emo crowd (yes lance bass, emos are gay) and by hipster sites like Pitchfork Media but almost every single one of their songs is a grower. Look past the adoration for them and just listen to the songs - I never really liked OK Computer past Karma Police and Paranoid Android until I was in a pretty fukked up mood and I heard Let Down. Then Electioneering, and the rest just grew on me within a week. Kid A is a top 10 album ever. HTTT is one of the most paranoid ass albums I've ever heard. Amnesiac rocks. The Eraser was one of my favourite albums of 2006. Just go into them not expecting anything and you'll get much more out of it.
As for overrated bands, I don't really know. I'm not big on U2 but I've only really heard their later period work and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb sucked ass. Incubus can't be overrated because they're basically just a feel-good rock band, and they're good at what they do. Coldplay are definitely overrated for making the same song for three albums, but they have their share of classic songs (The Scientist). Oasis are overrated, but good. Blur are overrated but good. Panic! At The Disco are overrated as hell and kind of homo. Likewise Fallout Boy, but less so.

I could never say Coldplay sucked, if only for "Clocks"......
Nirvana are a great band, yes, probably overrated because of Kurt's death, and also because of their role in ushering in 90s rock, but I love them.

Radiohead is jocked so ahrd that they can't be anything but overrated. The way people talk about them is so overwrought and hyperbolic that unless they are the literal second coming Jesus, they are overrated.

Come on. Radiohead are not at all above criticism. The manner in which they are treated leaves 'em with no choice but to be overrated.

They're not above criticism, some of their songs just suck. But lots of criticism has more to do with the jocking of Radiohead rather than the band itself.

Nah. Not really. The way I feel about Radiohead and the criticism I've heard most is the lack of organic growth and songwriting. They seem more concerned with not sounding a certain way or creating sounds that are different rather than just letting things happen naturally. If you have to work that hard to be different, then well, you aren't as different as you think you are.

Oh how dare you
It's fine, I understand that not everyone can like a band like Radiohead. They require a bit more intelligence, then say, Kid Rock, and naturally, not everyone is capable or willing to give them a shot. That's okay, everyone plays their roll in society.
This was a quote from a few years ago on ths site. Didn't go over too well in its original forum.
