That village of voice article prompted me to start an MF DOOM thread

I mean, come on, the guy has like 4 classic albums. All of them not mainstream, but still use better beats than whats out there. now thats something....

Best album: Vaudeville villain
Favorite track on the album: G.M.C.

I couldn't pick a favorite if I tried, so I'm saying "Operation: Doomsday", because it's the first one, but probably "Food" for quality.

Tracks:
So many......"Fazers", "I Hear Voices", "?", "Guinnesses", "Let Me Watch"......the list goes on.

yeah fazers was completely out of this world
both literally and figuratively

i guess no one really appreciates MF doom anymore.... its sad .... lol

There are a few other posters who rock Doom on here, but sadly, this site kinda reflects what's wrong with hip-hop.

The whole Geedorah joint was fire, weird, but weird fire.

word, he came clean on fazers
i think the craziest track on that album was "the fine print"
i think it was the last track on the album which meant he came in strong as hell
and left even stronger

Hear ye, hear ye! How dare ye
Go up against the king who do his thing tri-yearly?
They're too carefree with their mouths around here
Off with his head, and display it at Town Square
On top a seven-feet spike, make sure it's on tight
In light of when the peasants throw stones with all their might
Skull get smashed for weeks
'Til vulture beaks eats the last meat off your cheeks
Maybe then they'll know the right words to speak
Out loud, at home, in the world, or in the streets

LOL@ Vaudville villain being his best album!

Operation Doomsday is his opus.

It was better than the second one, that's for certain.

killahresh

Yeah, Operation: Doomsday was amazing, but I liked Vaudeville villain because it goes so much deeper than what it shows on the outside. When you listen to the songs a lot, you pick up different things and your just like... "wow, this guy puts a lot of work into his music". I felt that more on vaudevillie villain than on operation doomsday.

but viktor vaughn had sub par electro beats. and DOOM is my second favorite mc behind Ghost and he has been since 2000 so know i'm not just talking recklessly here.

my favorite album is King Geedorah, well that's actually in my top 3 albums of all time. the beats are perfect, doom cuts the craziest samples and voice bits, all of the featured emcees are ill (besides the dude that sounds like DMX doin Damien), and the concept is just ill.

but vaudeville villian is up there, Raedawn, A Dead Mouse..

all of his albums are great, it's like with tarantino, you can put his movies in order from best to worse, but you like all of them.

I'm guessing 400 albums

A while ago I hear him and madlib are still working together on MV2, I have no doubt there will be more than that. Still hoping on a REAL Ghost/Doom collabo, without ghost insisting on using old beats we've heard a million times before

yeah.. what's up with that? ghost doesn't even sound all that much better over them than without him at all.

If DOOM was given the chance to really lead the project, it'd be classic.

killahresh
12-13-06, 08:26 PM
im sure that the madvillian 2 album is gonna be classic
i actually prefer him taking his time, rather than rushing, because hes gonna end up using special herbs beats again... lol

but yeah, 2007 is definitely gonna be the year of DOOM

but we cant knock doom's skills on that **** he did for ghostface called "alex (stolen script)

its on mf doom's myspace... myspace.com/mfdoom

that beat is

I think at most we'll see two DOOM albums in 07.

Swift & Changeable and maybe Madvillainy 2, or a new King Geedorah joint.

I dunno I just cant see him dropping a load of shyt. Although I'd like to be surprised. And lets be honest, we aint gonna see S&C till about the Summer, if not Fall.

Hope i'm wrong tho.

If SwiftChangable comes out, I'll be pleasantly surprised. I refuse to believe it until I see it ON the shelf at the record store.

More raw than anything he's done since.

^^ they're not on "that" level yet

sn0man
12-23-06, 10:33 PM
fvck being on "that" level I just feel madvillain was a better album overall the beats and production was crack and the lyrics were great
operation doom has bad beats IMO Im just not really feelin it

DC
12-24-06, 04:19 AM
You might in time.

The beats are one of the best parts of OD. He was going wild not giving a fukk

True story: I really hated OD when I first heard it, thought it was shiit. Got annoyed at Sen for making me waste £10. . . . turns out to be one of my fav albums of all time.

12-24-06, 09:38 AM
alright I listened to the whole joint before bed Im liking it better

but I still miss the madvillain joint

killahresh
12-24-06, 09:52 AM
lol, i wonder what possessed MF DOOM to bring out king geedorah on operation doomsday, and then make an album dedicated to him

king geedorah off "red and gold" on operation doomsday

Pass the L, the last to tussle in them shirttails
All hail, King Geedorah, the third rail
700 volts holds rap to a standstill
Fool ignore the rule, **** up and get his man killed
Two bottles of Dom got his hands filled
And so goes the days of our lives as the hourglass sand spill
And built with Passion and a glass of the 'Ze

Korrosiv

Basically what I feel. The more I've listened to OD it does grow on you, but I prefer Madvillainy a lot more. Album is like, damn near perfection IMO.

DC

To me

OD = 36 Chambers
MV = Forever

So both are classic
