Well, consider that high fructose corn syrup is made from "genetically modified corn treated with genetically modified enzymes." Basically, it's not natural--its closer to a poison--and instead of being processed by various organs & cells, the liver has to do all the work which causes all kinds of problems & can lead to cirrhosis of the liver (http://www.stanford.edu/group/virus/hepadna/2004tansilvis/liver%20cirrhosis.gif).
It's also being implicated as a primary cause of the obesity epidemic in this country. For one thing, it's in almost EVERYTHING--one of these sources I looked at said Americans are eating over 60lbs of it per person per year?! For another thing, it doesnt behave like other sugars in your body, so you dont get the same feeling of fullness, so you keep eating more!
It's really disgusting when you start looking into it. I'm pretty sure you dont care much but, maybe someone else readin this does.
Here are a couple ah, easy-to-digest links that touch on the dangers of HFCS

Good stuff Elle. To reiterate, the fructose in HFCS is not recognized by the brain as a calorie, so it does not activate a hormone named leptin to "excite" a protein in your brain, CART (POMC), and to control its nemesis, NPY (http://www.webmd.com/content/article/114/111248.htm). So essentially, with HFCS, you are intaking calories without the body recognizing it as such.
The liver controls the metabolism (well, it's really the brains when it comes to orchestrating one's metabolism). Food goes through the GI track and from the intestines it travels to the liver where the nutrients are further processed and used accordingly (they are so many things the liver does). Carbs, simple or complex, are processed and travel to the heart, muscles and brain for energy. If you intake a lot of HFCS, that highly processed stuff (poison basically) is what feeds your brain, muscles and heart energy. I do not think it's as bad as trans fat, but then again trans fat is a lot easier to avoid.
Also HFCS is processed so fast by the intestines that if you were to eat 100% whole wheat/grain around the same time, HFCS would take precedence over the good carbs to energize your brain and heart and the good carbs might not be used (if you metabolism is slow) and turn into fat.
Basically, it's not natural
Being 'natural' doesn't mean its good for you either
