When did love become a ploy?

I know, where have I been?
Tactics like this have long been used by men.

It’s not my way to be angry for long,
I’d just assume wish you well.

It’s just a trip though.

I embraced you with the pure love of a child,
And then you changed.

What I had wasn’t good enough for you anymore.
Maybe it never was.

That’s how love beats you up.

A boy once told me women are like 31 flavors,
Gotta try them all.

Hey Skater, speaking from the male's perspective I stand guilty as charged.
I know that this is a poor defense but temptation is a mother.
Plus it seems that some women won't give you a play unless, you are with another.
You know that we could care less about being the brightest bulb on the tree, just the strongest with the mostest and you know this...
Dare I say if could take some choices back I surely would, but wouldn't we all.
But with mistakes comes knowledge, right

and maybe this will influence how i proceed into relationships,
with more realistic (and somewhat deflated) hopes.

You're welcome, but don't get me wrong now. When a man's trying out the flavors, he will readily put on the brakes when he comes across his favorite.
Men are all the same but yet different as in I like Heineken, my boy likes Miller Lite, yet we both like beer. I guess what I'm saying is don't give up on us men, just as you said be "more realistic" it is better to not expect to much and getting surprised with an abundance then the other way around. If you truly wish to be the sole object of a man's desire then be that. I mean it is easier to obtain a Honda than it is a Benz, and the one that you have to work the hardest to obtain you are going to treat it as such (TLC), now this may cost me my players card but hey you're my girl and all so be it. Now there is somebody out there that is only looking for a woman like you and knowing what you have to offer him. Be that Queen bend but don't break those who stand their ground sticks around. Now I could be wrong and all that because like I said I'm just a man, so just sift through all this mumbo jumbo and pick out what you like. But you didn't hear it from me O.K.
A brother has to keep his players card you know. Keep your head up now, or MR. Right will walk right by you and you won't even notice. You Gotta be that flavor of the month you dig.
