a gunshot sounded of into the night
for one moment everybody stopped
then everyone continued on as before
and now back to that gunshot please
black woman was found shot in head
apparently from resisting an assault
the attacker was eventually caught
while a kid waits for his momma to return
she went out to buy his favorite ceral
when a strung out fiend accosted her
her son sits at home lonely, cold and hungry
not knowing that the last time her saw her alive
was just that
waking up alone at what now is a new beginning
he leaves his home for good vowing never to return
feeling hurt and thinking that he was abandoned
he lives on the streets learns to survive and not die
going in and out of jail so much that it is now old hat
he befriends and old celly and begins being tutored
they become good friends almost like father and son
littles does he know that pops has a secret to tell
and that revealing that secret will change the course
of their lives for ever
funny how a world that's so big is yet so small
again a gunshot is sounded off
the co's rush to the jail cell in shock
he stands there covered in blood smiling
they all that he and pops were cool...
