Hello my fellow American, although you seem to disagree.
Even though we share the same color, you still don't accept me.
But I was brought up in your hood, so why didn't it rub off?
When I’m being only myself; alluding to nothing but the truth, you still turn up your nose and say I’m straying from my roots.
But I will not be put into a category for the mark I bare on my skin.
I will fight to stay outside the box, walk where the grass is greener, climb the fence to connect with my neighbors, and throw bricks through these tainted windows to get view that’s much clearer.
You see acceptance is national, for we are all people.
It is impossible to say you survive totally on your own without at least a cane if not a crutch.
We need all the races.
There is no rainbow without the spectrum.
There is no one kind of them.
Color aside, we hold our own as individual people.
It is not you that I’m trying to disown.
But the stigma of a profile that’s been placed on our people.
So say what you will.
Be closed minded if you wish.
I can only feed you what I know, in a very special kind of dish.
