this came to me while watching Finding Neverland bout a yr and a half ago. For anyone who's seen the movie (its great btw), you may know what scene this stemmed from.
The Moment
When does the moment occur
When childhood is gone and only growing up remains?
In an instant. Flash. It's gone.
Childhood memories and vibrant imaginations
Are replaces with mature activities
And cynical thinking.
The innocence of youth, naivete, and happiness
In the blink of an eye, all it takes is an instant
And they are lost forever.
Most fight, holding onto childhood as long as they can
Doing whatever they can not to lose it
Trying to avoid the Moment, but it's all for naught.
Fervently I try to hold on
My hands clinched so tight around it
Light can not escape.
But it does.
Lost forever, but not completely
Lingering memories and jubilous occasions
Bring it back briefly.
Only too brief.
For we desire it once it fades
Anticipating its return- only we dont' realize it's back
Until it begins to fade again.
How do we keep it?
Hold it and cherish it
Trying so hard not to let it go
By faith, by believing
Remembering, rejoicing
For in our heart of hearts
This feeling, this state of being
Will never truly go away
