Besides eating whole foods which I do but with time sometimes lacking, I at times dont have time to cook.

What is a good protein supplement to take that is safe?

Well protein is the number one thing you'll need to gain mass, along with an excess amount of calories. Aim for roughly 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight each day (example: Person weighing 200 would consume 200-250 grams of protein each day).

As for supplements. Look into trying out a Creatine or NO2 product to see what you respond to. Many supplement makes now offer combination products that contain Creatine and NO2 to cover all bases in case someone is a non-responder to either one. I posted a list in another thread, gimme some time to find it and I'll copy it here.

Check out ON 100% Whey or Muscle Milk if you plan on bulking up. Muscle Milk is a very solid product but the price may turn you to ON 100%. Muscle Milk has a good comination of nutrients with the right amount of protein and calories per serving.

Make sure your always consuming protein immediately after working out, and then once again 90 minutes later. This is a trick I use when I bulk up to meet my daily requirement and provide enough protein. If your gonna use this, use 30-35 grams of protein per serving.

Don't make the mistake of taking TOO much protein either. 30-40 grams a serving is optimal. Anything over that and your just wasting it. This is why its best to split up protein intake over 6-7 meals a day. Makes it much easier to meet your requirement especially if your a lil heavier.

Controlled Labs Green Bulge <==== Very solid product, plus its capsule form so its easier to take. Amazing pumps and strength increases. Be prepared to swallow 5-7 of these bad boys though.

Xyience NOX-CG3 <====== Expensive but highly effective. One of the more commercial products I use. Actually does what it claims to do, but the price of it makes this thing a once-in-a-while purchase.

Omega Sports Cre-Ethyl Thunder <====== One of the best supplements I've used period. Doesn't contain Arginine but mimics its effects. Can be compared to Green Bulge due to its capsule form and ingredients. Also a much better value since you get 30 servings as opposed to 21 with Green Bulge, and for the same price. Have to choke down 8 capsules so keep that in mind.

S.A.N. V-12 Turbo <====== Old faithful when it comes to pumps and strength, Very solid product. This is always in direct competition with Swole. Both products are very good and priced competively. I will say that V-12 is alot more tart and sweet, makes you gag sometimes.

Syntrax Swole V.3 <====== One of my favorite supplements, been using it for years. The original version was more stripped down but they have added more to it. They even have a new version called SwoleN that adds NO2; haven't tried it yet though. Still, Swole is a cheap and very very effective product. Works for both responders and non-responders to Creatine/NO2.

V-12 and Swole are very solid combo products. Green Bulge and Cre-Ethyl Thunder are CEE products which is the most potent version of Creatine available. Bulge and Thunder are both capsule form so don't expect to squeeze out alotta servings from a bottle.

Actually its better he start with higher grade versions of Creatine. Supplements are not something you have to "build-up"; we are not talking about steroids here, just Creatine and NO2. Nothing is different, just how the Creatine is actually delivered to the bloodstream and how much of it is wasted. Mono sucks in both aspects of this.

Mono is pretty much forgotten. Doesn't mean it wasn't effective, but there are better and more efficient ways of getting it. I for one, never liked taking Mono and honestly never saw much off of it. It wasn't until I started talking Swole and their Di-Creatine blend that I began to see the potential of newer versions of Creatine. I was on Mono for a good 2-3 years too so its not like I wasn't patient.

Creatine Mono is the most proven form of Creatine out,it's tried and tested, all a kid has to do is mix it with some grapejuice(unless he want's to buy Dextrose and make his own Cell-Tech) and he's good.

I myself take Universal Storm, but I started out with regular Mono, moved up to CEE and now am using the Storm blend.

But you can't just be naming all these fancy supps for kids.First thing they're gonna do is hit GNC and waste a good 100 bucks on something they really need.

Something like Prolabs Creapure is the best bet for dudes who are new to supps since it's cheap(20 bucks) and 1000 grams will last a while.

Once again I never said Mono didn't work, just saying there are more effective versions of Creatine on the market. Mono works for SOME people, not all, using these blends and combination products simply assist in taking the guess work out of the equation. Granted, he can surely go ahead and spend less on Mono and try it for a bit; but I don't want him to completely give up on Creatine if the Mono doesn't work.

Just giving the dude options, thats all.

And fancy supplements? LMAO. Of all the crap and real fancy supplements on the market these are by far the least known and most effective. With the exception of NOX-CG3 and maybe V-12, these are supplements you won't really find in most stores and that people know little about. Besides, I'd rather have him use his money on these supplements instead of GNC brand supplements or Cell Tech crap.

I mean I coulda just told him to skip all the sh*t and buy some Bulk CEE, but I wouldn't want him to be taking something that tastes like battery acid haha.

L Glutamine, check out how you lose so much of this amino acid during your workouts and need to get it back in. There are also alot of health benefits from it, it boost human growth hormone 400% with just two grams a day (not the HGH athletes use this is much safer and natural). Look into this, it has hardly any of the side effects Creatine has and will help you alot in your carb consumption and so on. It also decreases sugar and alcohol cravings etc.

Is Nitrean & Opticen a good supplements to buy and use to gain mass. They;re good quality pretein right and thats what you need to get big right?

Also my roomate has a blender in our room that he told me to feel free if i want to use it. Is there any combinations of something i can mix to help gain mass. Like a protein shake?
